Duties Description Under the direction of?Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, within the Digital Transformation Office, Digital Experience, WebNY Website Services the Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, SG-18, will be responsible for one or more of assignments of?Quality Assurance, Drupal Site Building, Operational Website Support, Product Owner, and Other Roles and Responsibilities around web development and support.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Quality Assurance • Perform Quality Assurance testing on Jira stories for web development sprints. • Complete pre-launch and periodic post-launch website reviews. • Perform QA testing of all website development and updates to fulfill ITSM service requests.

Drupal Site Building • Perform a variety of Drupal site builder tasks including configuring menus, taxonomy, uploading documents, establishing entity references, page creation, administering user security permissions and configuring modules. • Complete in the content migration process for websites moving to Drupal site factory or single instance platforms. • Build Drupal Front-End Development and Theming using with front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, PHP and JS. • Debug and resolve Drupal-related issues and errors. • Regularly check for updates to contributed modules and complete needed updates and Security Patching, • Able to Use IDE (Visual Studio Code preferred.) • Use Agile methodology and participate in all related activities.

Operational Website Support • Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for Drupal and HTML websites. • Utilize ITSM to manage incoming work requests and thoroughly document development work. • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills including promptly responding to assigned tickets and communicating with requestors on the status of tickets. • Identify task blockers and elevate to supervisors and managers as needed.

Product Owner • Create User stories, document requirements, and specifications for website development using Jira • Break down user requirements for both front and back-end requests and document requirements in a detailed and comprehensive manner. • Review development Backlogs, update, create and, deleted user stories in Jira to ensure easy management and prioritization. • Conduct and participate in development planning and prioritization, coordinate development schedules and projections. • Interview Stakeholders to determine business processes and document to assist in development understanding of requirements and business needs.

Other Roles and Responsibilities • Google Analytics website administration and custom report creation. Prepare monthly Google Analytic billing reports used to bill agencies for website support. • Site Improve administration including adding or removing websites and user account. administration. Generate a variety of Site Improve reports to aid in the site building process. Create custom reports and dashboards as requested. • Review the weekly security vulnerabilities report. Communicate and track remediation of security vulnerabilities. Prepare security vulnerability PowerPoint slides for the weekly work status meeting. • Participate in an accessibility community of practice to ensure websites meet the ITS Accessibility policy.

Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.

OR

A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.

OR

Two years of professional experience in information technology. Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. 55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply. NYS HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

Additional Comments Some positions may require fingerprinting.

Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details of position(s) will be described further if you are selected for an interview.

Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
