Job Summary: The Brand Manager will report directly to the Brand Director and will play a pivotal role in building the Good Foods brand with responsibility for building ownable market positioning, a superior product portfolio, and a differentiated innovation pipeline.
The Brand Manager will be responsible for helping to develop and execute Good Foods' strategic plan, driving sustainable and profitable growth across the portfolio of products. The Brand Manager is actively engaged and plays a leadership role in important business processes, e.g. Integrated Business Planning, portfolio simplification, and innovation pipeline development. This role is responsible for both short-term and long-term business planning and delivery across base business and innovation. It is critical for this role to have a deep understanding of innovation, from strategy and ideation through to commercialization. This person must manage these initiatives with a holistic business orientation and P&L-centric style.
This role will partner closely with the Brand Director to shape the future of the Good Foods' brand and continue to build a new brand management function within the group. This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset, traditional CPG marketing experience, and someone who is eager to play a critical role in the growth of the Good Foods brand.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• New Product Development: Lead development and execution of the innovation pipeline, including product line extension, white space innovation, and packaging innovation plans. Partner with cross functional team to develop and execute plans including business case, concept development, feasibility, product development, validation, customer sell in, and performance tracking.
• Brand Strategy Execution: Leveraging data and insights, this role will be a steward of the brand, ensuring the team stays on track with overall growth strategy, positioning, price/value proposition, strategic target activation, product portfolio, and new product strategies.
• Insights & Analytics: Analyze and interpret market trends, brand and competitive performance via syndicated data, and consumer research.
• Cross Functional leadership and collaboration to progress the Brand Strategic Plan including:
o Consumer Insights: Partner with Consumer Insights to progress brand learning agenda, test innovation with consumers, and deliver the Brand's Strategic Plan
o Integrated Marketing Team: Brand Manager will work closely with IMC team to ensure effective and efficient translation of marketing strategies to packaging, consumer communications, brand materials, etc.
o R&D/PMO: Strong partnership with R&D team on innovation pipeline development from concept to commercialization. In partnership with PMO, progress projects through Stage Gate process ensuring projects ladder up to the Strategic Plan
o Sales: Collaborates with Sales to progress strategic plan, develop innovation pipeline incorporating key customer feedback and development of new product selling stories
o Corporate Strategy: Partnership to ensure brand + corporate strategies are aligned
o Operations: Strong partnership with Ops to commercialize profitable, sustainable, high quality product portfolio
o Finance: Partner with finance on long term brand financial targets and ensuring initiatives deliver profitable growth. Must have business acumen/P&L management experience
o Partner with agency and external partners as needed
• Comply with all Company rules, regulations, and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Additional Skills: • Must be 18 years of age or older • Valid Driver's License required and insurable by Good Foods Group insurance company • Minimum Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred • 5+ years of CPG Brand Marketing experience with responsibility for innovation projects • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills, both in development of compelling stories and in presenting them at all levels inside and outside the organization • Strong project management skills, managing multiple projects at once while still delivering a strong attention to detail • Entrepreneurial mindset (curious, creative, resourceful, adaptable, risk taker) and proactive contributor that can excel in changing and ambiguous situations • Highly motivated with a natural inclination to contribute beyond functional role, as brand team is expected to be business leaders • Proven track record of innovation pipeline development with strong in-market success • Experience leading and inspiring a cross functional team including strong partnership with sales on customer collaboration of pipeline development • Demonstrated strong analytical data rigor, including syndicated data experience: SPINS, Numerator, IRI, translating data into insights • Financial understanding and ability to manage project P&Ls • Makes decisions in a complex environment without having all the information at hand • Can be trusted to contribute key deliverables on-time with the utmost quality and accuracy
Travel: • This position may require some travel to research, trade shows, etc.
Physical Requirements: Typical office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and low noise level. May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment. Minimal physical activity is generally involved.
