Function
The City of Ankeny has a need for an individual for a summer internship. The internship is intended to provide on the job experience for those interested in helping maintain the sports complex fields and grounds in the Park & Recreation Department.
This is a paid internship, $17.00/hour, 40 hours per week for thirteen weeks to begin May 19, 2025 and ending August 15, 2025.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
All cultural practices including mowing, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, deep tine, slicing, etc. Basic equipment maintenance. Irrigation scheduling and repair. Wear management.
Entry Requirements and Skills
This position is not eligible for health benefits but may be eligible for IPERS. IPERS eligibility and participation will begin once an employee earns $1,000 or more in two consecutive quarters and will continue for the duration of employment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Specific duties shall include, but not limited to:
- Clay work including infield skin, mounds, and home plate.
- Turf work including fertilizer and pesticide applications, mowing, and edging.
Entry Requirements and Skills
- All applicants will be considered; however, preference will be given to current students majoring in Sports Turf or Golf Course Management.
- Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must maintain a valid Iowa drivers' license.
- Outdoor setting, extreme weather conditions.
