Job Title: Welding Instructor
Position Overview:
Match High School Career and Resource Center seeks an experienced and dedicated Welding Instructor to lead and inspire students in our new welding program. This role focuses on equipping high school students with hands-on welding skills and industry knowledge to prepare them for successful careers in the welding and manufacturing sectors. The instructor will also ensure alignment with state and industry standards, fostering a safe, productive, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Training
Teach fundamental and advanced welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-cored arc welding.
Provide instruction on blueprint reading, metallurgy, fabrication, and safety practices.
Develop hands-on lab experiences to reinforce welding skills.
Incorporate modern technology and tools to align with industry trends.
Program Development
Design and implement a welding curriculum aligned with industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Welder).
Ensure compliance with state and district educational standards.
Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to align training with workforce needs.
Maintain welding inventory and submit orders for approval as needed
Student Support
Mentor and guide students to develop technical skills, work ethics, and professionalism.
Provide individualized support to help students achieve their personal and career goals.
Prepare students for welding certifications and apprenticeships.
Safety and Maintenance
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to OSHA and school safety standards.
Regularly inspect and maintain welding tools, equipment, and the welding lab.
Community and Industry Engagement
Build partnerships with local industries for guest speakers, internships, and career opportunities.
Host welding demonstrations, competitions, and community events to showcase student work.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional welding experience.
Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector, NCCER Certification).
Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA compliance.
Previous teaching or training experience (preferred).
Passion for education and mentoring students.
Skills Required:
Proficiency in various welding techniques and tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
