The Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1968 to enrich the lives of youth, seniors, homeless populations, economically disadvantaged families, and under-served individuals in South Los Angeles by providing and facilitating a variety of essential educational services, social services, cultural activities, vocational opportunities and economic empowerment opportunities.

The Role:
The Vice President, Development serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting Brotherhood Crusade. In partnership with the President and CEO, this position is responsible for fundraising and development activities. The incumbent will help forge new relationships to build Brotherhood Crusade's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Vice President, Development also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support and has primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow an $12 million budget through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. The incumbent will expand and diversify Brotherhood Crusade's donor base/pipeline and work closely with executive team members to secure funding for new initiatives.

As VP of Development, you will...
Support and partner with the President and CEO on all major fundraising initiatives. Collaborate with the Executive Vice President (EVP) to develop and implement Brotherhood Crusade's financial strategy and Workplace Giving Programs. Actively work with the President and CEO and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc. Lead, guide, and direct the development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach. Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position Brotherhood Crusade ahead of major funding changes or trends. Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to senior leaders. Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors. Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program. Identify, develop, and mentor any development team. Qualifications and Experience:
Interested individuals must be committed to the core values of Brotherhood Crusade, which are Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Diversity and Commitment and be passionate about working with underserved populations with an emphasis on disconnected youth. Strong writing, communications, critical thinking, networking, negotiation, and strategic skills are critical and the ability to manage an array of programs with limited resources is essential. 10-plus years of development experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time. Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships. Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives. 5-10 years of managerial, supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree from a four-year university required. Master's degree preferred. Other qualifications include:
Possess a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance. Ability to travel several times per month (25% to 50% of the time).Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to participate in, conduct, and sustain performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities. Sensitivity to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Punctual and dependable attendance. Understanding of Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade's basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.
SALARY RANGE:
Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.
