POSITION OVERVIEW
The UI/UX Designer II engages users with design that inspires, engages, and excites them. Responsibilities include research and benchmarking, designing pixel perfect graphical user interfaces and creating consistent style guides across multiple platforms/devices and produce illustrations to communicate ideas and concepts.
We are seeking an experienced application/product designer to join our studio team. The designer will primarily focus on designing applications (approximately 80%) and hardware interfaces (approximately 20%).
The position is based at either our Tech Hub in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan or at our Global Headquarters office in Zeeland, Michigan.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design positive customer experience for products, service, and solutions. Work closely with industrial design, engineering, marketing, and program managers to define the visual design elements iteratively. Develop design visions and beautiful visual languages, lead the execution across different platforms which based on Gentex and customer Branding language. Create visual designs of graphics, icons, animations, user interface Elements, and visual design specifications. Define project storytelling opportunities for projects, use video makers, storyboard, photographers, and illustrators to deliver unique Project narratives. Work closely with Engineers to ensure the feasibility of your visual concepts and the fidelity of the final output. Lead design workshops and brainstorming sessions and communicate ideas and design solutions through detailed design documentation. Collaborate with industrial designers and engineers in defining information and UI architectures, developing conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and low fidelity prototypes. Wireframe development and/or flow charts. Create user interface simulations. Create information architecture examples. Other duties as assigned. HOW YOU'LL DO IT
Apply a holistic approach in understanding design strategies, translate them into design solutions, and ensure consistency in quality and execution. Work independently and lead project teams as needed. Accurately calculate project costs for budgeting purposes and resource allocation. Serve as a mentor to incoming UI/UX Designers. Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace. Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters. WHAT TO BRING
Minimum 3+ years' experience in user experience or user interface design or related field. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Human Factors design, or other visual arts related field. Superb information design abilities, passionate about Graphical user interface design. Meticulous and efficient production and optimization habits, and impeccable problem-solving skills. 1-3 years experience on graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Sketch. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Experience producing production assets for a variety of screen resolutions. Experience with embedded design projects. Experience with Style guides/Visual Brand Language Guidelines. Demonstrated knowledge of the latest user experience, user interface design patterns and trends. WHAT WILL HELP
Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines and deliverables. Good visual trend sensitivity and self-motivated study on new visual design direction to lead the product visual direction. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and feasibility, as well as an understanding of automotive design requirements and practices preferred.
