We are looking for a Production Manager to join our rapidly expanding team in the Portland area. The Production Manager is responsible for production performance, production planning and utilization, policy compliance, and employee training and development.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Performance:
• Facilitate, maintain and uphold all Ajinomoto group principles, activities, plant standards, processes and quality systems.
• Achieve department goals by supporting stable operations, seeking ways to minimize waste, raw materials & packaging materials with increasing line efficiency.
• Manage assigned fixed overhead monthly and annual budgets, controlling and minimizing overtime, reduce and limit spending without sacrificing quality.
• Report daily plant production/productivity issues and results to General Manager.
• Other duties assigned by General Manager as necessary.
• Champion Kaizen culture (continuous improvement) and TPM (Total Productive Management) activities.
Production Planning and Utilization:
• Establish regular production line staffing which ensures continuous operations.
• Plans and coordinates all production schedule requirements which meet daily/monthly sales and efficiency plant targets.
• Analyze and review daily production schedules and product mix to maximize target performance objective.
• Monitor planned production material requirements and communicate with Warehouse, Production Planning and Purchasing for availability.
Policy Compliance:
• Provide and support manufacturing programs and procedures as written for all guidelines established in the FSQA regulations.
• Reduce and limit basic GMP or procedural violations identified by USDA or FDA authorities.
• Routinely monitor all plant employees for GMP and HACCP compliance.
Employee Training and Development:
• Responsible for development of a high productivity workforce by hiring, training, performance review, Ajinomoto Shared Values and corrective action.
• Monitor required annual training for 100% completion by all production employees.
• Regularly monitor and communicate safety related activities which generates full participation by all plant employees.
• Support and retrain Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Root Cause programs aimed at supporting, maintaining and increasing productivity, safety and quality.
• Achieve a zero safety accident/incidence for all areas of responsibility in support of company established objective.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory responsibilities over Production Supervisors, Leads and all production employees (approximately 220 employees).
Position Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university; or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certificate in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
Certificate in First Aid/CPR.
