Industrial Packaging Designer

We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Industrial/Senior Packaging Designer to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of our clients packaging. Responsibilities:
- Conceptualization and Design:
- Lead the design of innovative and engaging packaging solutions for Neutrogena products, from concept to production.
- Develop creative concepts, sketches, and 3D models that align with brand guidelines, marketing objectives, and user needs.
- Create functional and aesthetic mock-ups (including “Weekly Evan Rhodes” mock-ups – please clarify what this refers to) to assess user experience and form.
- Operate and maintain on-site 3D printers and partner with vendors to create appearance models.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with the Neutrogena Weekly Senior Design Manager and cross-functional teams (marketing, R&D, supply chain) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders through presentations and visual materials.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors to ensure alignment and achieve project goals.
- Sustainability and Innovation:
- Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through innovative design approaches, such as minimizing material use, exploring recyclable materials, and optimizing packaging for shipping efficiency.
- Research and select materials that meet functional requirements and sustainability goals, considering factors such as durability, cost, and environmental impact.
- Technical Expertise:
- Prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications for design intent release to vendors and project teams.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends in beauty, packaging design, materials, and finishing techniques.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of proven experience as a packaging designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating innovative and functional user experiences.
- Experience working with consumer brands, particularly in industries such as beauty, personal care, or consumer goods. Experience with companies like L'Oréal, Estee Lauder, Unilever, or Procter & Gamble is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Fluency in SolidWorks or other similar parametric surface modeling software.
- Proficiency in Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA).
- Solid understanding of end-to-end manufacturing methods for personal care and consumer packaged goods (bottles, closures, cartons, filling, retail and e-commerce distribution, and design for recyclability).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for design excellence and a user-centered mindset.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50-59 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location
