Job Title: 81246 - Electrical Engineer II Job Location: Vista California 92081 Onsite Requirements: pcb electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators). experience in industrial control system design, including PLCs, machine safety, panel/enclosure design, and electrical interfaces. Job Description: Join a cross-functional engineering team at Leidos to design and develop next-generation X-ray-based security equipment. This position involves significant collaboration with scientists, mechanical and software engineers, and test engineers. This is a temp-to-hire role, not suitable for candidates solely interested in contract work. Key Responsibilities: Design PLC-based machine control systems, including circuit design, embedded programming, motion control, and power distribution. Perform sustaining engineering for existing products, addressing obsolescence issues and feature updates. Design printed circuits and direct PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly. Develop engineering documentation: design specifications, interface control documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on new and existing designs at the component level. Collaborate with small teams (2-3 Electrical Engineers) or independently on smaller projects to develop solutions, present concepts, and implement designs. Qualifications: Must-Have Hard Skills: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field. 2-4 years of experience in industrial control system design, including PLCs, machine safety, panel/enclosure design, and electrical interfaces. Proficiency with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators). Experience with PLC or embedded software development. Familiarity with product development processes, including design reviews, engineering documentation, and ECR processes. Ability to troubleshoot down to the component level. Nice-to-Have Hard Skills: Proficiency in PLC code (IEC61131 languages). Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Orcad, PADS, Altium). Knowledge of radiation detection technologies and X-ray producing machinery. Ability to develop system architectures and designs for complex systems. Must-Have Soft Skills: Strong team collaboration with cross-functional teams. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Work Environment Typical Day:Scrum team meetings (3 times/week), programming equipment, testing in lab environments, and troubleshooting. May involve outdoor testing and working with heavy machinery.
