Design System Lead
 
The team develops solutions that bring high-quality services to the the public, making Ohio a better place to live, work, and do business.
 
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, a passion for creating intuitive and accessible user experiences, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital products.
 
As a designer, you will play a key role in shaping the visual standards for the state and will lead the evolution and management of our design system. You will work closely with internal and external teams to ensure that our design principles, UI components, and guidelines are aligned and scalable across the enterprise.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Evolve the Design System: Conduct weekly Design Operations meetings to oversee the addition and enhancement of the design system through a structured process. Manage the product roadmap.
  • Design Projects: Create interactive prototypes for websites, products, and components, and patterns, and refine designs based on user testing, feedback, and usability data. Continuously iterate on components and patterns to ensure optimal user experiences.
  • Design Leadership: Guide external designers, promoting our user experience philosophy, guidelines, and best practices for design system components.
  • Establish, Document, and Communicate: Define design guidelines, patterns, and standards. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Foster a Culture of Collaboration and Feedback: Lead discussions, design reviews, and gather feedback from both internal and external teams.
  • Ensure Accessibility and Inclusivity: Advocate for inclusive design practices, ensuring that the system adheres to accessibility standards and meets the needs of diverse users
