ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Development Manager is responsible for providing the development and implementation of effective customer relationship strategies. This includes identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building client relationships and expanding and/or maximizing MYR Group's customer base. The Business Development Manager will work closely with MYR Group subsidiaries, districts, marketing, leadership and other key MYR Group stakeholders to deliver and effectively execute strategies. The individual in this position must be capable of up to 50% travel (e.g., 2 weeks or 10 days per month). Drive business growth by developing and implementing strategies to develop opportunities with new customers and expand opportunities with existing customers Lead account planning and individual customer relationship plans to develop a deep knowledge of customer organizations and strengthen relationships Ensure close collaboration with districts to develop strategic plans, identify and act on growth opportunities, advance customer relationships and position our teams to win Ownership of key strategic accounts and effective relationships development strategies Participate and lead meetings with districts and other operational leaders Complete Action Selling course and utilize its concepts in daily business development efforts. Effectively leverage the concepts with colleagues that have completed the course to collectively learn and expand each other's selling capabilities. Develop and maintain influential customer relationships across the entire T&D organization Manage client engagement and entertainment efforts including special events Engage and influence districts to lead proposal strategy and implementation on strategic pursuits
Strategy
Assist in the development and implementation of the Business Development and Marketing team strategy Analyze customer and historical performance data to inform business development and marketing strategies Research and analyze national market activity, emerging opportunities, and geographical trends
Customer Relationship Management System
Support the optimization of MYR Groups Salesforce system within the business Leverage Salesforce daily to help manage customers; this includes account planning, position plans, notes, contact management, opportunity management, dashboards, etc. Utilize Salesforce for account planning and position planning. Support users using these features and lead the planning and strategy efforts that develops and expands these plans for customers Leverage Salesforce daily to help manage customers
Marketing
Support customer engagement communications including surveys, newsletters, social media, case studies, podcasts, webinars, etc. Support and lead the planning and execution of industry conference and events attendance, sponsorships, and client events Increase the success of proposals and customer presentations by continually strengthening and refining key messaging
Other duties as assigned Regular and predictable attendance Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications 5+ years' experience in construction business development, estimating, project management or engineering roles Minimum of 5 years' experience in the electric utility industry. Working for either engineering or construction firms, business consulting or an electric utility (IOU's, Municipality or Cooperative) Proven experience contributing to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the business development function in collaboration with senior management Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or business management Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Extensive knowledge of construction markets and business sectors Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to lead the effort in highly professional proposals and presentations Strong marketing skills with the ability to sell and deliver Ability to establish departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization Ability to build collaborative relationships Analytical thinking skills Ability to drive strategic direction
WHAT WE OFFER
Compensation & Benefits Salary $115,000-$135,000 / year
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Two days per week remote work option
