ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Operates and maintains construction and agricultural heavy equipment such as dozers, backhoes, tract loaders, bobcats, excavators, dump trucks, maintainers, agricultural tractors, shredders, augers, plows, power tools, telehandler, gasoline mowers, vehicles and other equipment used for vegetative, structural, and channel maintenance.
- Performs routine and emergency maintenance checks and repairs on equipment, vehicles, and structures. Services and/or repairs motor vehicles, small engines, tractors, construction equipment, and farm equipment.
- Performs welding to assemble and repair structural forms such as trailers, hitches, equipment, buildings, flood gates, and other equipment.
- Applies herbicides for control of noxious weeds following proper procedure under general supervision.
- Operates a low center of gravity tractor to maintain vegetation on earthen dam slopes with up to 30 angle slope.
- Repairs erosion using hard and soft approaches (rock, riprap, soil lifts, erosion blankets) with various pieces of equipment and tools.
- Supports and assists with linear trail maintenance, lighting, plumbing, and other amenities along the Mission Reach Project.
- Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
- This position does not directly supervise any employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and at least three (3) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of landscape or agricultural equipment or vocational training in agriculture; and at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience servicing motor vehicles and various types of farm or construction equipment; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Within six (6) months of employment: ability to attain a "Handlers Verification Card" for herbicide application
- Within one (1) year of employment: ability to obtain a Commercial "A" driver's license
- Confined space entry certification within (1) one year of employment
- Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
