Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma/Equivalent CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) From one of the following certifying bodies: National Health Career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health (AAH) or the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) upon hire or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) From one of the following certifying bodies:American Medical Technologies (AMT) or the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). In addition, this certification requires: Successful completion of a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) program or equivalent. upon hire and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 1 year patient care experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient PC and data entry skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, provide oral and written instructions, interact tactfully with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships with others. Must be able to apply specific departmental policies, rules, and regulations relating to verifying patient information, insurance validation, maintaining records and forms, and completing medication refill processes. Responsibilities Works collaboratively with the Medication Renewal Center nursing and clerical team members. Completes medication refill encounters, care due messages, and order entry based on established protocols. Provides clear EMR documentation in accordance with department standards regarding medication renewal requests, care due messages, patient care needs and/or follow up. Communicates status of renewals to patients and/or physician offices. Participates in prior-authorization processes pertaining to medications. Receives and enters to EMR faxed encounters, renewal orders, and other pharmacy communications. Orders and schedules appointments and/or lab work as appropriately outlined in protocols. Completes projects, requisitions, and reports for the Patient Contact Center as requested. Assists with onboarding of new team members. Other miscellaneous tasks as outlined within onboarding and orientation. Maintains all education and competencies pertaining to licensure, role, and/or certification. Participates in projects and work groups upon request. Successfully completes PCC scheduling center specialist training/education and maintains adequate proficiency with call intake management, symptom guide utilization, and other scheduling processes. Communicates with pharmacies regarding discrepancies and/or clarification for medications. Communicates with patients regarding required services (labs and/or office visits) to facilitate medication refill processes. Performs review of pending medication refill encounters that do not meet protocol and send to prescribing provider team. Disseminate education to patient as written by provider. Schedules appointments, validates insurance, and processes patient concerns through use of symptom guide and other outlined department processes when needed.
