Position Summary:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, administering, and supervising the activities of the manufacturing process engineering function for the organization. Works with staff to plan and design methods to maintain, improve or enhance existing manufacturing processes. Responsible for development and validation of new production processes as well as the upgrade of existing production processes and ensures effective transition to production standard practices. Works with other manufacturing and engineering departments to ensure all new products are producible. Assists in analyzing and reviewing manufacturing budgets, schedules, and production requirements to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources. Develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to schedules, human and monetary resource allocations, and production standard operating procedures.

• Developing new processes and tooling/fixtures
• Creating 2D and 3D CAD/CAE (SolidWorks)
o Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA, DFMEA)
o Control Methods (Mistake Proofing, Flags, SPC, Inspection, SOP and Warning Signals)
o Tolerance Analysis/Simulation
o Design of Experiments (Factorial DOE - full and fractional) and optimization
o Control Plan
o Project Planning, cross-function leader of teams involving internal and external stakeholders
o Cellular manufacturing flow, pull, line balancing, standard work and time standards
o Root Cause Analysis methods
o Write Justification (ROI) for capital projects
o Product/equipment Validation (i.e. IQOQPA, PPAP)
o Quality Management Systems (QMS) / Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
o Design and plan production pilot runs
o Molding (i.e. compression, transfer, injection)
o Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access and Visio
o Proficient with Minitab
o Understands bill of material (BOM) and shop routing
o Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
o Self-motivated, results orientated, and can work prioritize workload with minimal supervision
o Able to read and understand Engineering drawings (including GD&T)
o Mechanical Measurement and Instrumentation skills
o Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
o Process Mapping methods (VSM, high/mid/low-level maps, swim-lane, SIPOC)
o Capability Analysis (Cp/Cpk, DPMO, % Yield)
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing or Industrial Technology.
Qualifications:
• Certification/Certificate in lean Manufacturing
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Manufacturing Process Engineering
• 5+ years of new product development (NPD) in a team environment
• 5+ years applying SIX Sigma (DMAIC) tools
• 5+ years applying Lean Manufacturing principles in a manufacturing environment
• 4+ years managing/supervising direct reports
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience is strongly desired but not required
