POSITION OVERVIEW

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional nursing services for residents of the Gallatin Rest Home.

WORK SHIFT:

Nurses work various shifts according to facility needs and their availability. Minimum of 2 shifts per month providing shifts are available.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for this position must be certified to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Montana; must have thorough knowledge of the theories, techniques and practices of professional nursing; medical terminology and the effects of medication and treatment; supervisory principles and practices; and the ability to apply knowledge; supervise the work of others; maintain accurate medical charts and records; handle sensitive and confidential information; communicate effectively both in writing and verbally; provide professional nursing care to aged and handicapped individuals; react well in emergency situations; direct, instruct and oversee the work of subordinate personnel; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Completion of an approved course in professional nursing, license to practice professional nursing in the state of Montana.

Two (2) years work experience in a similar health care setting affording the opportunity to demonstrate supervisory capabilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

In recognition of the importance of bonding and care of a newborn child or a child placed for adoption, Gallatin County provides 240 hours of PPL to eligible full-time employees. The hours are pro-rated for part-time employees.

Effective July 1st, 2024, the hourly compensation will increase to:

RN: $35.00 - $43.00 PER HOUR LPN: $30.00 - $38.00 PER HOUR

As a condition of hire, pre-employment drug testing may be done.

Public Employees Retirement System

- Montana public employees of the state, university system, local governments and certain employees of school districts are covered by the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). New members to the PERS have an opportunity to choose between two retirement plan options: the Defined Benefit Plan or the Defined Contribution Plan.

Sheriffs' Retirement System (SRS)

- A public pension plan for all Montana Sheriffs hired after July 1, 1974 and Detention Officers hired after July 1, 2005.

Sick Leave

- Full-time employees accrue 7.40 hours per month and are eligible to use sick leave once it is accrued. The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.

- Full-time employees accrue 9.20 hours per month and are eligible to use leave once it is accrued. The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.

Holidays

- The County observes eleven legal holidays in even numbered years and ten legal holidays in odd numbered years.

Bilingual Pay -

Gallatin County allows for bilingual pay to employees that provide translation services to County departments and offices. The bilingual pay allows for extra compensation to employees that provide this service.
