The Family Ministry Director’s role is to participate in our mission to

“Multiply and Send Disciples and Leaders”

by leading our Kids, Youth and Parenting Ministries in engaging our young people and equipping parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their kids. The Family Ministry Director must have a vision to see children of all ages mature as disciples of Jesus fostered in an intergenerational community within the church. The Family Ministry Director is a servant-leader who multiples ministries by equipping teams of volunteers to serve, teach, invest in the younger generation of the church and resources parents to raise their kid(s) to love Jesus and love people. This role will require building relationships and collaborating with local parachurch ministries and other kids/youth leaders serving in churches in West Seattle. This individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, strategic and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. SCOPE

Family Ministries (Kids, Youth and Parents)

Plan and coordinate all Kids Sunday school worship and activities with a team of volunteers. Build a vibrant youth ministry with a team of volunteers. Enlist, recruit, equip, and train volunteer teams to accomplish the tasks necessary to have a spiritually healthy and effective Family Ministry. Equip parents (in various seasons of life) through training, books, articles, workshops and other resources to parent their child with love, wisdom and patience. Resource families to worship together at home throughout the year including Lent and Advent Seasons. Review and recommend gospel-based curriculum for kids and youth gatherings. Plan creative age-appropriate activities throughout the year in coordination with other local ministries. Prepare families for milestones of baby dedications and baptisms through biblical teaching. Develop annual ministry plans which are in line with the church mission and vision and regularly evaluate how goals have been attained or reevaluate and modify as needed. Oversee the coordination of “Special Events” including Christmas, Easter, Member Meetings, and others as they occur where kids/youth are involved. Build relationships and strategic partnerships with other ministries and schools in West Seattle in order to serve and work together for the good of the young people in the community. Advise Lead Pastor and other church leadership concerning the needs and requirements of the Family Ministries. Requirements

Qualifications

Fulfill the duties required of Trinity West Seattle members as outlined in the membership covenant. Fulfill the character qualifications of Deacon or Elder as taught in the Scriptures. Ability to teach God’s word by creatively engaging those of various ages. Prior experience in leading kids and youth ministries and resourcing of parents. Proficient at multitasking, time management, prioritizing and organization. Ability to work with and maintain positive and loyal relationships with others. Experience as a leader and recruiter of volunteers for building a healthy kids and youth ministry. Ability to build teams and equip leaders to lead ministries. Theological and/or Christian Education preferred, but not required. Spiritual and Practical Gifting Requirements
