is seeking a dependable, motivated self-starter to serve as a General Manager. Under the direction of the CEO, the general manager assumes responsibility and is accountable for customer retention and the profitability of each department in the dealership. Uses sound business management practices in operational planning, budgeting, and inventory control while ensuring a safe working environment for employees and customers, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Essential Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manages a service-oriented environment that promotes customer satisfaction through training and leadership. Establishes service standards to exceed customer satisfaction. Trains employees to tactfully handle customer inconveniences, misunderstandings, and complaints promptly and with genuine concern for the customer’s problem. Manager provides support and intervenes where necessary to ensure customers are handled in accordance with the dealership and manufacturer’s standards. Maintain a customer feedback system that makes it easy for customers to comment or complain. Continually evaluate customer feedback and take immediate action to resolve problems and improve the level of customer service. Maintains CSI scores that meet and strive to exceed goals. Implement action plan to improve customer satisfaction. Keep employees informed of customer satisfaction goals and their impact on overall scores. Plans dealership operations for the coming year and submits to the dealer for approval. Meets with the controller monthly to review departmental forecasts for consistency with the annual forecast. Provides dealer with accurate weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership. Ensures that the monthly financial statement is complete, accurate and submitted on time to the factory. Develops and maintains a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel. Communicates management policies and procedures to all employees and ensures that they are understood and followed. Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape employees' attitudes and build morale. Holds regularly scheduled managers meetings to ensure that every department is operating efficiently and profitably. Develops merchandising strategies and assists in creating effective, cost-efficient advertising programs. Ensures all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate. Coordinates with the business office to ensure that records and analyses are maintained accurately. Administers a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables. Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership. Manages posted documents, vehicle deals, commissions and additions and changes to inventory. Maintains an effective cash management system. Forecasts cash needs. Approves adjustments to inventory and receivable accounts. Stays abreast of current factory incentives and codes deliveries on dealership system. Administers charge-back program for late charges to inventory. Prepares monthly floor-plan report stay within General Motors equity guidelines. Prepares sales commissions/chargeback detail reports. Manages the payoffs of vehicle floor plans and works with bank representatives. Monitors charge accounts and oversees collection of past due accounts. Compiles information and prepares reports as requested by management and/or dealer principal. Audits vehicle deals for accuracy. Assigns stock numbers to new and used vehicles and assists with paperwork. Purchases new vehicles and maintains adequate supply of marketable new vehicles and sets pricing. Manages the courtesy transportation program to ensure adequate vehicle inventory and meets reporting requirements. Manage GM programs, such as SFE, EBE, CSI, and other applicable enrollments. Establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and health work environment by ensuring compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations. Trains employees, complies and submits reports, maintains programs and files, and completes appropriate inspections. Coordinates building and grounds maintenance work. Other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance with emphasis on management, or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience. 7-10 years relevant work experience required. Minimum of 5 years experience in a Senior Leadership Position. Technical knowledge of the automotive industry required. Experience with DMS systems. Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Required Competencies: Demonstrated proficiency in Windows, MS Office Suite including; Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, internet/intranet and other organizational specific software. Demonstrates appropriate understanding/working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, and applies them. Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills. Professional communication skills for both internal and external customers, and coworkers. Possess traits of honesty, integrity, creativity and flexibility. Must have high level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Demonstrate an understanding of the products sold and the processes involved. Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance. Ability to understand daily production needs.
