Applicants are being accepted and will be reviewed starting in January.** Chief Operating Officer About the Position The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), serving Mesa Global’s mission, vision, values, people, and partners through the development and continual improvement of operational processes and policies across departments and ministries. The COO collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure that our global workers and partners in over 50 nations have the administrative backbone needed for strategic and innovative action. As a key driver of organizational strategy, the COO empowers our people, adds value to donors, facilitates long-term sustainability, and maximizes our impact. The COO also executes strategic projects that advance the mission and engages with the Board at semi-annual board meetings and assigned board committee meetings. About Mesa Global Mesa Global is an interdenominational evangelical ministry focused on equipping the church and its leaders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily operations to empower our global workers so that they fulfill our mission with undivided focus and high morale. Oversee Mobilization & Onboarding, HR, IT, and the Center for Intercultural Training (CIT), providing supervision, accountability, and support to department leaders to achieve excellence in these functions. Provide intentional development to direct reports and help build a developmental culture through a strategic staffing map and processes for assessing the current performance and future potential of personnel. Contribute to the development and implementation of the organizational strategic plan, aligning operational functions with strategic priorities to enhance current ministries and position for future sustainability and effectiveness. Collaborate with the CFO to develop and monitor operational and strategic budgets and to regularly review financial statements and performance with the President and CFO. Serve the board of directors by effective reporting on strategy, operations, and other initiatives as requested by the President. Oversee the selection and performance of outsource providers and vendors. Collaborate with the President and CFO to evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities and to lead implementation as required. Education, Certifications and Experiences Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field (master’s degree preferred) Strong people and project management skills A minimum of 7 years of management and leadership experience in Operations or a related field Skills Strong operational leadership experience with demonstrated ability to manage teams toward excellence. Demonstrated experience building healthy teams and organizational culture. Able to lead with resolve, patience, personal integrity, and a mature understanding of organizational dynamics. Able to facilitate innovation and to manage change and conflict effectively across teams. Strong writing and verbal communication skills; able to represent the organization and speak effectively about the mission of Mesa Global to stakeholders and audiences of different sizes Proficiency as a self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization. A demonstrated willingness to learn from other leaders and people throughout the organization; ability to work together with varying personality types and cultural backgrounds. Strong understanding of nonprofit financials and demonstrated financial acumen for strategic and operational decision-making. Preferred Qualifications Nonprofit leadership experience Cross-cultural ministry experience Location Charlotte, North Carolina Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, on virtual calls, and working at a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Travel Requirements Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed (est. 15-20%) Key Reporting Relationships Supervision Received: President, CEO Direct Supervision Provided: (1) Director of HR, (2) Director of Mobilization & Onboarding; (3) Director of IT, (4) Executive Director of CIT Collaborate with the CFO on budget and financial performance, and with the Directors of Global Training and Global Ministry on strategy and administrative issues across ministries.
