Clairbourn School is a coeducational, private school for students in preschool through middle school (JPK-8th) that has served the greater Pasadena area since 1926. The Clairbourn School Lower School Director has daily responsibility for the staffing and operation of the Clairbourn childcare center (Junior Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten) and, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. The Lower School Director works closely with the Assistant Head of School and the Head of School to ensure the curriculum is in line with the overall school philosophy, yet flexible enough to tailor it for individual class needs. The Lower School Director is the primary contact for parents about the program's general operation and acts as a support for the teachers, students, and parents as needed. Salary is commensurate with education and experience ranging from $75k-$120 with a generous benefit package including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Is familiar with, and stays up to date on changes in, the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division Title 22 licensing regulations and requirements. Acts as a liaison to the state in all licensure matters relative to the preschool. Maintains a consistent preschool educational philosophy statement. Observes, evaluates, and supports classroom instruction in all classroom areas to maintain a coordinated quality program. Records appropriate information relative to Faculty Performance Evaluations and Goals, and conducts evaluation conferences of direct reports. Coordinates the work schedule of the preschool and kindergarten assistants. Approves timecards of direct reports each pay period in ADP. Conducts regular grade-level and individual planning meetings with teachers in order to keep them informed, gather information, and offer support. Maintains current, accurate, and complete records on all enrolled Preschool students in coordination with the Administrative Assistant and Health Office. Works with the Director of Enrollment Management to plan and administer an effective admissions evaluation program for Preschool through 3rd-grade applicants. Performs all duties incidental to the effective coordination and operation of the preschool and lower school programs. Participates in hiring interviews of preschool through third-grade job applicants. Oversees the preschool summer program when it is active. Provides the HOS with annual goals and regular progress updates. Participates in general administrative assignments as determined by the Head of School. Acts as the Clairbourn administrator liaison for the San Gabriel Valley Consortium Induction Program. Supports the vision and direction of the school based on a thorough knowledge of educational best practices, a growth mindset, strategic thinking, and energy. Presents a warm, compassionate, and thoughtful demeanor. Communicates effectively both with students and adults.
