Senior Estimator

Brown and Caldwell is seeking an estimating professional that is well-organized, outgoing and ready to grow their career in estimation. The candidate will represent the company as a professional Estimator that will interface with internal and external clients. This position requires well-developed experience inclusive of all disciplines including but not limited to architectural, civil, mechanical, structural, plumbing, and HVAC with an emphasis in Water/Wastewater. Remote location allowed.
Responsibilities:
Estimating man hours and materials needed to complete Engineers Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (OPCC) and to competitively bid both traditional and design-build projects. Provide constructability and value engineering reviews of design documents during all phases of the project. Develop and lead project estimates, with integrated support of other estimating resources. Demonstrated exposure to all aspects of project deliverables. Develop and maintain client relationships throughout the project. Serve as a technical expert in estimating. Provide estimating leadership on project teams. Establish and effectively leverage cross-discipline relationships within project teams to facilitate estimating functions. Assist in the development and execution of the strategy and plan for estimating activities that consider and support the overall delivery strategy or project requirements. Develop estimates in the accuracy and level of detail required for the intended purpose of the estimate. Prepare a comprehensive and thoroughly documented basis of estimate. Develop conceptual and definitive estimates following standard procedures and estimate classes. Validate that the project scope, material take-offs, and client requirements are covered in the estimate. Estimate and advise lead staff of cost impacts of proposed design or construction changes. Be familiar with the risk register and relationship to contingencies. Apply practical field experience and constructability expertise to the development of conceptual estimates when minimal design drawings and information are available.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of water and wastewater plant and process engineering practice preferred. Previous experience in construction management, field engineering, project management or field supervisory roles. Including managing contractors, driving schedule, sequencing tasks, and understanding construction projects start to finish. Strong understanding of construction sequencing and developing work breakdown structures (WBS). Performing hard-bid estimates as general contractor. Performing Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates. Familiar with estimating construction projects with alternative delivery methods; Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum of Associates degree or technical school certificate (BS Engineering or Construction Management preferred) 10+ years minimum estimating experience that should include disciplines such as Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, and/or Structural estimating, with an emphasis on Water/Wastewater. Proven ability to work independently under remote supervision with project managers, project design teams and other estimators located in multiple regions of the country. Knowledge of water and wastewater plant and process engineering practice preferred. Recent Sage Construction and Real Estate 300 estimating software (formerly Timberline Estimating Software), Bluebeam, and working with BIM models. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Outlook, Word and Excel). Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project Scheduling Software and ability to develop proposal and planning phase construction schedules is highly desirable. Understanding of different project delivery methods and estimating based on delivery method. Ability to perform constructability reviews. Willingness to coordinate the objectives of all stakeholders towards a positive outcome. Able to read and interpret CAD drawings and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's). Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills. Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience and education. Salary:
Location B: $117,000 - $160,000
