Description
This position reports to the Director of Technical Accounting & Policy within the Office of the Corporate Controller. This position will be responsible for managing the technical accounting assessments and providing technical accounting guidance on a variety of complex transactions to key stakeholders and senior management; managing the implementation of new accounting standards; supporting the external reporting process by drafting new footnote disclosures; and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures are maintained for all relevant process areas.
This position can be worked remotely within the U.S.
Responsibilities: Manage the review and evaluation of revenue contracts entered into by SAIC and research the relevant US GAAP accounting guidance to determine the appropriate accounting treatment. Manage the technical accounting assessment of significant and unique transactions entered into by SAIC (including stock compensation arrangements, lease accounting, capitalized software, acquisitions & divestitures, joint ventures, debt refinancings, restructuring activities, etc.) and provide guidance to various business functions and senior management. Prepare accounting memorandum and executive summaries/presentations that document the accounting impact of significant and unique transactions. Manage the preparation of SAIC’s annual goodwill impairment assessment. Manage the evaluation of SAIC’s reportable and operating segments. Manage the technical accounting for SAIC’s stock-based compensation awards. Manage the technical accounting assessment for SAIC’s merger & acquisition activities, including determining purchase price allocations for business combinations; reviewing the reasonableness of third party specialist valuation reports; evaluating key accounting considerations such as contingent consideration; and evaluating potential differences in significant accounting policies. Manage the review of new accounting pronouncements to determine the impact on SAIC and, when applicable, assist with the implementation of new standards. Provide technical accounting support and analysis to SAIC’s business group controllers. Evaluate the disclosure requirements and prepare 10Q/10K footnote disclosures for certain complex accounting areas. Manage the drafting of new/updated global accounting policies on an as needed basis. Maintain and monitor department compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures. Provide analysis and support to SAIC’s external auditors. Manage and develop a team of two individuals. Other special projects, as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (Business Administration or related field). Certified public accountant. A minimum of 9 years of accounting experience, with at least 4 years of Big 4 public accounting (audit) experience. Subject matter expert in the technical accounting areas of revenue recognition, goodwill impairment assessments, stock-based compensation, segment reporting, lease accounting, capitalized software, business combinations, and debt modifications/extinguishments. Strong understanding of SEC reporting and disclosure requirements. Significant experience with preparing technical accounting memorandum and global accounting policies. A strong interest in performing technical accounting research over a broad range of topics. Able to navigate and interpret relevant authoritative literature and evaluate and recommend solutions to senior management. Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) and a demonstrated ability to prepare organized work paper files. A proven ability to deliver on commitments and deadlines. Unquestioned personal integrity. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong multi-tasking skills and flexibility to switch from one project to the next. Government contracting experience a plus. US Citizenship is required for this position.
