Work Schedule:
The paramedic provides patient care in accordance with KBEMS regulations and Sedgwick County Medical Society protocol compliance. Paramedics provide quality out of hospital care in a timely manner by safely assessing patients and performing advanced medical treatment to potentially avert life threatening emergencies and reduce morbidity. The Paramedic position safely operates EMS vehicles, including transporting patients to and from health care facilities. This position is also responsible for preparing and submitting reports, and ensuring the stocking and safeguarding of vehicles, posts, equipment, supplies and medications.
Quality out of hospital health care
* Work to maintain a safe work environment and minimize risk of injury. * Provide emergency care and transportation in accordance with both KBEMS regulations and Sedgwick County Medical Society Protocol requirements. * Determine most effective method of emergency treatment. * Apply basic and advanced life support. * Administer medications. * Undertake appropriate invasive procedures * Coordinate care with receiving facilities.
Operational Readiness
* Respond to emergency calls in an appropriate manner. * Ensure ambulance mechanical readiness to respond. * Ensure proper inventory and readiness of Emergency Medical Equipment, medical supplies and medications, personal and vehicle safety. * Ensure proper inventory of medical supplies and medications. * Ensure proper inventory of personal and vehicle safety equipment. * Maintains a workplace that is clean and free of potentially infectious contaminates. * Proficient in all navigation tools to ensure prompt response. * Communicates EMS operational readiness reports.
Documentation
* Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records and files of patient care activities along with vehicle and station activities. * Mechanical checklist. * Document checklist for post supplies. * Ensure all HIPAA paperwork is disposed of properly. * Ensure all paperwork required for billing purpose is filled out and faxed then placed in designated area.
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in emergency medicine or a related field. Up to two (all) years of experience may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills. State of Kansas Paramedic Certification. NREMT certification may be accepted until hire. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver's license without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience as a paramedic. Associate in Paramedic Programs or related degree.
