PRN Registered Nurse (RN) - MICU

The Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus are designed to treat high acuity patients who need critical care and suffer from various medical problems. The G62 Unit includes 18 patient beds. Some of the most common procedures performed by our nursing staff include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubations, and central line placements. Our dedicated and highly trained nursing caregivers follow an intricate nursing care model that is rooted in evidence-based practice and always puts patients first.

A caregiver in this position works days/evenings/nights/weekends from 7:00am – 7:30pm or 7:00pm – 7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and monitor patient care plans.

Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.

Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.

Will consider military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
