Description & Requirements
The Sr IT Principal Enterprise Architect focuses on driving operational excellence and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions across areas like DevSecOps, cloud migrations, software factories, AI/ML, microservices, and zero trust. The candidate will lead full lifecycle solution architecture, including development, proposals, and program execution, while ensuring compliance with federal standards such as FedRAMP, DoD IL4/5, NIST RMF, and ITIL frameworks. Key responsibilities include developing secure and scalable cloud solutions, defining security guidelines, and integrating emerging technologies to address evolving threats. The role emphasizes risk management, incident response, and continuous improvement of cloud security architectures, ensuring effective security controls and compliance. Additionally, the candidate will foster collaboration across IT teams, cloud providers, and stakeholders, while providing technical leadership, mentoring teams, and clearly communicating priorities to align security strategies with organizational objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the technology design and definition of software solutions.
- Work with Maximus systems and operations staff to design cost-effective integrated technology solutions comprised of both in house and commercial off-the-shelf products.
- Act as lead technical representative and spokesperson supporting pre-marketing and proposal activities.
- Drive the decision-making for technical decisions in conjunction with systems technical staff.
- Document technical strategies to facilitate operational business needs.
- Review federal, state, and company policies to determine applicability to systems functionality, design, and operation.
- Develop strategies to fulfill requirements and assess effectiveness of implementation.
- Collaborate and coordinate with appropriate internal and external groups to ensure the confidentiality and security of all corporate information.
Drive operational excellence in technology solutions across DevSecOps, cloud migrations, software factories, AI/ML, microservices, zero trust, and digital modernization.
• Develop and implement enterprise-scale applications while leading cross-functional teams and aligning to industry best practices and federal standards.
• Lead full lifecycle solution architecture: technology development, customer shaping, proposals, and program execution.
• Provide independent leadership to architect, develop, and implement secure, scalable solutions in Public/Private cloud, DevSecOps, Microservices, and Security Engineering environments.
• Ensure compliance with federal standards including FedRAMP, DoD IL4/5, NIST RMF, FISMA, CMMC, and ITIL frameworks.
• Guide teams in delivering solutions across cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and deployment models (public, private, hybrid).
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- 12-15 years of relevant professional experience required.
• Cloud Security Architecture: Develop and maintain cloud security blueprints compliant with FedRAMP, DoD SRG, and NIST standards.
• Security Controls: Design and implement security controls for FedRAMP Moderate/High and DoD IL4/5 to protect sensitive information.
• Emerging Technologies: Integrate cutting-edge security solutions to address evolving threats and cloud-specific challenges.
• Security Standards: Define and enforce security guidelines for cloud service selection, configuration, and management.
• Security Strategy: Align cloud security strategies with agency objectives and integrate requirements into the full system lifecycle.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks using FedRAMP/DoD guidelines, ensuring effective controls.
• Continuous Improvement: Conduct ongoing reviews of cloud security architectures to close compliance gaps and improve posture.
• Collaboration: Foster partnerships across IT, cloud providers, and stakeholders to drive security awareness and adoption.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
