Position Description
As a nimble and fast-moving organization, we are looking for someone awesome to help us design cutting-edge products providing predictive maintenance for some of the largest companies across the world. You will have the opportunity to solve unique, challenging problems and develop solutions across a wide range of products and technologies, while working alongside a team of talented self-starters in an entrepreneurial environment. As a hardware engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and evaluate electronic hardware components and systems. You will be involved in various stages of the hardware development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to prototyping, testing, and production. We are seeking someone that can work independently with little supervision, while also being a player and a coach for others on the team. You should have excellent organization and problem solving skills. Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Location: Must live in Pittsburgh, PA or be willing to relocate
Travel: 5% travel, if any. There are occasional in-person technology summits for training, development, and team building.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. **Sponsorship is not available at this time.
As a Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop high quality hardware schematics and PCB layouts
- Produce relevant and accurate documentation
- Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure product quality
- Conduct root cause analysis of hardware issues
- Work closely with product certification agencies
- Collaborate with internal developer teams
Required qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters in Electrical Engineering or related degree
- 4+ years experience in hardware design
- Must be a cool human being and enjoy working on limit pushing projects
- Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuit design principles
- Proficiency using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Experience with hardware testing equipment
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Excellent organization and leadership skills
- Stellar communication and proven problem solving skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience designing IoT devices
- Knowledge of RF principles
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to hardware design and testing, such as FCC, ISED and CE practices/certifications
- Experience with modern revision control tools (i.e. SVN, git, etc.)
- Knowledge of selected programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.)
- Understanding of mechanical design and materials
