Jr. Manufacturing Buyer/Expeditor
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Buyer/Expeditor Works with the Purchasing Buyers to help manage the daily operations required. Ability to work independently on given Purchasing projects. Handle supplier relationships to ensure continuity of inventory receipts and services that meet the quality, service, delivery, and price performance standards.
Contacts vendors and shippers to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are forwarded on specified shipping dates. Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the duties below.
Responsibilities:
- Use MRP system to determine material requirements and the required timing of products and services.
- Confer with suppliers concerning open POs, their deliveries status, and ensure orders are on track to meet the production requirements and expedite as needed and provide tracking information.
- Work cross functionally to obtain needed information to meet delivery requirements of Material and OVS (Outside Vendor Services). Manage questions and communication with Suppliers, Engineers, Program Management, etc. and drive the current status forward to a successful completion.
- Ensure the Procurement, Production, Production Control are aware of material or service status and kept abreast of the situation and the actions being taken.
- As a Jr. Manufacturing Buyer, you will ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and manage the day-to-day business relationships with suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery requirements, issue resolution, follow-up on back orders, etc. Source and buy PPE, MRO, and Hardware items, handle Processing requisitions and placing purchasing requests.
- Learn and maintain the ERP system on their product lines.
- Support cost reduction projects.
- The Jr. Manufacturing Buyer contracts to obtain material from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, lead time and reliability of source.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities.
- The Jr. Manufacturing Buyer participates in vendor qualification activities.
- Determine the best transportation method to minimize freight costs while meeting required manufacturing dates.
- Quality Approvals: Manage the vendor quality approvals and expired certifications. Maintenance of all documents on vendor records in the ERP system.
- Assist with identifying potential suppliers and vendors
Required Skills:
- 1-3 years' buyer experience in a manufacturing organization highly
- Understanding of Purchasing and Supply Chain concepts and procedures.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must have a working knowledge of PC's, Internet usage, e-mail and working experience with ERP.
- The ability to develop a strong Procurement skill set and expand into a more complex role such as a Senior Buyer, analyze supplier capabilities, and negotiate LTAs (Long Term Contracts).
Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm. Monday through Friday. Onsite only.
PAY: $60-65k annually dependent upon experience
Background and Drug test required.
