Apply today to help us achieve our mission. Summary: Our growing technology company seeks an experienced IT professional to join our elite team. We are looking for a self-motivated, customer service-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to provide internal technical support in an efficient and accurate manner, advise and assist project teams with technology needs, and assist with the maintenance and growth of our IT systems. You will be the company's front line for solving IT-related problems. Ideally, the right candidate will be based in the San Jose, CA metropolitan area. This position is a

hybrid

in-office, telework and datacenter mix in the nearby area. There will be dedicated days to cover office support at our Headquarters in San Francisco, including visits to our colocation, local to San Jose area. This person must also respond to emergency events during non-business hours, including scheduled maintenance windows after hours. What You’ll Do: Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure the integrity, performance, and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and critical processes; review system and application logs to proactively identify and address issues. Deliver comprehensive OS, application, hardware, and VoIP support for both on-site and remote users, providing solutions to enhance user experience and operational efficiency. Oversee and manage hardware and software inventory to ensure accurate tracking, maintenance, and lifecycle management. Take ownership of datacenter responsibilities, including network engineering, SAN/NAS management, and server hardware and OS management across various architectures (x86, RISC, x64, ia64, SPARC, ARM). Develop and maintain detailed system documentation and drive continuous improvement in IT-related processes for enhanced operational standards. Participate actively in IT project planning, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware and software systems, ensuring seamless transitions. Administer Office 365/Entra, with a focus on Intune management to support organizational security and compliance standards. Manage and support internal software applications, contributing to project management activities related to internal software stacks to drive operational effectiveness. What You’ll Need: 10+ years of experience in systems administration, engineering, or a similar technical role, with expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues. 2+ years of Palo Alto Experience Required. Hands-on experience with datacenter technologies, including Firewall Management, Network Management, and Storage Management. Proficiency with virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and VMware Workstation, as well as familiarity with VDI solutions like Windows 365. Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft Entra/Intune with SAML authentication. Intermediate experience with Linux/Unix systems, HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure), and unified computing platforms like Cisco UCS or IBM LPAR. Strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell, Windows task scheduling, and backup processes. Familiarity with RMM and NMS tools, macOS hardware, KVM systems, and corporate communication platforms (Teams, Slack, Zoom). Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to after-hours emergencies or scheduled maintenance. We’d Love to See: A passion for driving system performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization, with a proven track record of reducing downtime and improving efficiency. Deep familiarity with datacenter operations, including network engineering, storage management (SAN/NAS), and multi-architecture server environments (x86, RISC, SPARC, etc.). Strong experience automating workflows using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform to streamline operations and enhance system reliability. A collaborative mindset with a history of contributing to IT project planning, system documentation, and process improvements to elevate team performance. Expertise in managing Office 365/Entra and Intune, leveraging these tools to support organizational security, compliance, and operational standards.
