As the first full-time tax hire in the company, you will have an immense opportunity in setting the trajectory of the function and being a key team member as the company continues to experience high growth globally in Cybersecurity SaaS / Software. You will be the domestic and international tax expert within the organization and an integral part of the global financial management team. You will serve as a critical advisor to others in the company about tax risks and opportunities that may impact business decisions being made. You will also be responsible for creating and implementing the organization’s overall global tax strategy and policies, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, you will deliver on all tactical tax work, such as filing accurate and timely returns and supporting audits. This is a fully in-office role, allowing you to collaborate and build relationships across teams and with key stakeholders to help ensure this function’s success.
The everyday hustle:
Develop and execute global tax strategy to minimize tax risk, minimize cash taxes, minimize the effective tax rate, and maximize cash flow while maintaining flexibility in company operations.
Monitor the company’s transfer pricing policies, including identifying and implementing changes as required, and related documentation.
Serve as a subject matter expert on tax matters to other functions in the company to help identify and communicate tax implications of potential business decisions.
Proactively provide advice on how new or changing tax laws and regulations may impact the business.
Develop, implement, and maintain tax policies and controls.
Manage the preparation of the income tax provision and related disclosures in support of the company’s US GAAP financial reporting.
Manage outside service providers in the preparation of US and foreign corporate income tax returns.
Manage the preparation of timely returns, annual reports, and business license registrations.
Prepare tax information for auditors, consultants, and other parties as needed to support tax initiatives or in the event of audits or inquiries.
Build strong relationships and work cross-functionally with other finance functions to ensure a smooth and timely monthly close.
Oversee transaction tax reporting and compliance as it relates to sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and other indirect taxes.
Oversee third-party service providers and manage internal resources.
Manage the preparation of R&D tax credit claims using internal and external resources.
Do you have what it takes?
BA/BS degree in Accounting or equivalent, masters preferred.
Minimum of 10 years corporate tax experience, including experience at a global public accounting firm.
General knowledge in US GAAP.
Experience with income tax provision preparation and review.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey complex tax issues in easy-to-understand ways for non-tax experts.
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge and hands-on experience in global tax planning and structures.
Detail-oriented, extremely organized, with the ability to complete deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self-starter that thrives in a high-performance, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to balance multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines with limited supervision.
What makes you uncommon?
International tax experience: VAT, GST & other indirect tax experience is a plus.
Software or other technology industry experience, public company experience a plus.
