A large, private, urban research university with nearly 34,000 students, BU is committed to offering high-quality degree and certificate programs to a large national and international audience, expanding access to the University’s programs and enhancing its global presence. We seek a creative thinker and experienced leader in the utilization of state-of-the-art remote, digital, and online technologies to expand our educational reach. Building on existing and emerging online education efforts across campus, this central, university-wide organization will work to achieve economies of scale in marketing, lead generation and nurturing, course design and production, and course delivery associated with online at-scale degree offerings. In collaboration with BU’s schools and colleges, the Vice President and Associate Provost will develop a strategic path to build a portfolio of online degree and certificate offerings that yields significant enrollments. The Vice President and Associate Provost will report to the University Provost and work regularly with other University leaders. The Vice President and Associate Provost will partner with deans, faculty and staff from across BU to create a coherent ecosystem of educational opportunities that provide broad access and serve students in a purposeful way. Responsibilities

Design, create, and lead an internal online resources organization to achieve economies of scale in marketing, lead nurturing, course design and production, and course delivery associated with graduate level online at-scale degree offerings and also other degree and certificate offerings. Define and guide the strategic path to support the achievement of as much as $200M in annual revenue within 5 to 7 years, starting with the ongoing evolution of the Questrom Online MBA program, and launch of the School of Public Health’s Online Master’s of Public Health program in January 2023. Partner effectively with schools/colleges on program and course design/production, and program delivery efforts. Ensure close integration between the schools/colleges and University administrative units including Graduate Affairs, Information Services & Technology (IS&T), Marketing & Communications (MarCom), Enrollment and Student Administration (ENSA), and the Online Resources organization. In conjunction with the appropriate business support functions at the University, ensure compliance with regulations that may impact online learning, including international, federal, and state registrations or tax related compliance. In collaboration with partners, such as edX and 2U, ensure effective marketing and lead nurturing, and recruitment and lead capture efforts on applicable projects. Establish specific, measurable goals and other performance expectations and deploy a systematic review process to evaluate progress toward goals, objectives, and outcomes. Establish and lead an effective management structure and team. Ensure effective utilization of financial resources, human resources, and physical infrastructure. Empower and support the collective team to achieve performance goals and objectives; consistently raise the bar on performance expectations; inspire accomplishment of goals and objectives; model professional excellence. Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional commitment, enthusiasm, integrity and pride in the University and its values. Education: Graduate-level degree preferably in the field of higher education, information sciences, or management. Relevant experience may substitute for field of study. Required Qualifications

Demonstrated track record of professional engagement and innovative achievement commensurate with senior leadership positions at a major research university and/or in industry. Strong understanding of issues/trends in higher education, including particularly experience in the rapidly evolving online learning environment. Proven leadership capabilities, including navigating in complex organizational settings, strategic planning, human resource management, risk management, IT vendor management, financial resource management, and related decision-making. Ability to work effectively and adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated accomplishment fostering diverse and inclusive work settings, and experience building and leading teams. Proven ability to work collaboratively with leaders across organizations. Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills. Impeccable integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
