POSITION
Join our team as a skilled Microsoft Desktop Engineer to manage endpoint computing infrastructure and technologies. Shape the future of our endpoint environment to meet user needs while ensuring security, stability, and efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and successfully implement comprehensive endpoint deployment strategies, including Autopilot provisioning, Azure Virtual Desktop imaging, and software distribution, to streamline and automate the onboarding process.
Design flawless endpoint configuration management solutions using Microsoft Intune configuration profiles, Group Policy Objects, and PowerShell scripts.
Manage configurations and policies to support mobile device (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) for both corporate-owned devices and bring your own device.
Ensure adherence to endpoint security standards, regulations, and recommended approaches. Implement security measures like encryption, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and access controls to protect corporate data and assets.
Implement automation and orchestration solutions to streamline desktop management tasks, such as patch management and software updates.
Analyze new technologies, tools, and solutions to optimize efficiency, security, and user experience. Propose recommendations for implementation following detailed analysis and testing. Contribute to building standards and processes for the integration of new hardware, operating systems, applications, and management tools.
Collaborate with end-users, support teams, and stakeholders to understand their needs and improve the endpoint experience. Implement user-friendly features and tools to enhance productivity and satisfaction.
Establish and manage documentation, standards, and effective procedures for desktop engineering processes. Ensure that these guidelines are consistently followed throughout the organization.
Find opportunities to improve cost, performance, reliability, and scalability. Implement strategies for monitoring and optimizing performance to ensure efficient resource utilization.
Act as a Tier 3 point of contact for critical issues impacting endpoints.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
5 years of engineering and architecture experience, including 3 years in a role like Desktop Engineer/Architect or Systems Engineer in a hybrid Microsoft environment.
Expert knowledge of Autopilot, Intune configuration profiles, MDM, and MAM app protection policies administration and configuration.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory infrastructure including domain controllers, trusts, sites and services, DNS/DHCP, etc.
Expertise in desktop operating systems, hardware platforms, and application delivery technologies.
Strong understanding of desktop virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.
Understanding of on-prem and cloud networking concepts including subnetting, vnets, peering, NSGs, and VPNs.
Proficiency in scripting/automation or IaC languages (PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, etc.) for task automation and orchestration.
Experience with Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
Knowledge of query languages such as SQL or KQL.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and collaborators.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty are preferred.
