Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for the preparation of ASC 740 reporting, as well as various federal, state, and international tax compliance obligations for Cubic Corporation and subsidiaries in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role will direct staff on larger projects including corporate compliance initiatives and assist with federal and state tax controversies. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: General Directs shared tax staff resources and is responsible for and manages larger projects. Involved with training/developing/mentoring including providing feedback and assessing performance. Ensures timely delivery of high-quality work product. Tax Accounting Prepares/reviews ASC 740 and FIN 48 calculations and disclosures in conjunction with financial reporting, primarily for domestic entities, and assists with international as well. Prepares and reviews return-to-provision adjustments, ensuring updates to future processes/data as necessary. Works cross-functionally with other departments to resolve issues. Tax Compliance Preparation/review of supporting calculations work papers for federal and state income tax returns prepared by external accounting firm. Prepares/reviews the analysis of complex domestic issues, such as revenue recognition and depreciation. Assists in the management and review of complex calculations, such as R&D Credit. Reviews quarterly estimated tax and extension payment calculations. Preparation and review of general ledger tax accounts and tax expense computations that flow into the annual tax provision computations, as well as tax account reconciliations, and assist with external audit of tax provisions. Manages tax compliance for Cubic entities with the help of external advisors in Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Tax Controversy Assists with US tax controversy. Responds to inquiries from business units and tax authorities. Research and Planning Performs and documents tax research as required. Expands technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments, and technical authorities, including federal and state tax laws, and applies them as required. Works with Senior Manager of Tax and outside tax advisors on special projects, as required. Minimum Job Requirements: Four-year college degree. Accounting or Tax preferred. Eight (8)+ years of multinational corporate tax experience. Knowledge of how to perform and document intermediate tax research. Strong knowledge of ASC 740/FIN 48, preferred. Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and experience with SAP (or similar ERP system) is a plus. Advanced degree and Certified Public Accountant, preferred. Big 4, federal or corporate public experience is a plus. Demonstrated flexibility in prioritizing and consistently completing tasks under deadlines. Effectively communicate in both written and oral form. Strong accounting and analytical skills, including problem-solving and attention to detail. Able to both effectively motivate and work as part of a team toward meeting department goals.
