Description
The Leidos Innovations Center is looking for a Senior Research Scientist with expertise in the areas of cyber security, network threat analysis, and critical infrastructure vulnerability assessment with a proven track record in developing technology-based approaches that yield novel, innovative capabilities and advance the state of the art.
This role can be based out of San Diego, CA, Vista, CA or Arlington, VA.
Primary Responsibilities
Engaging R&D customers in Defense, National Security, and Intelligence Communities to develop new business opportunities in the areas of cyber, network, and infrastructure security.
Support the development of innovative solutions to emerging cyber, network, and infrastructure threats.
Develop and prioritize strategic business and technical goals to support future growth in the cyber security arena.
Manage and allocate business and technical resources to best position the company for successful capture and execution of R&D projects.
Basic Qualifications
B.S in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field with 12+ years of prior relevant experience, M.S degree with 10+ years of prior relevant experience, or Ph.D. with 8+ years of experience (Ph.D. preferred).
Industrial/academic experience advancing the state-of-the-art in cyber and network security research through the delivery of demonstrated technical solutions to challenging national security problems.
Strong customer understanding and proven history of relationship building in the Defense, National Security, and Intelligence communities.
Proven track record in proposing, winning, and executing work with customers such as DoD and Intel Agencies (including DARPA and IARPA).
Knowledge of network security protocols and architectures, penetration testing methodologies, vulnerability analysis, malware analysis, reverse engineering, scripting and programming languages.
Excellent written and oral skills in communicating technical information with an ability to present complex technical information clearly and coherently.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Proven research record, preferably with technical publications.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field.
Experience with the full software development lifecycle (requirements gathering through deployment/maintenance).
Experience with Agile development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Experience with kernel level programming.
Familiarity with assembly for one or more architectures (ARM, MIPS, x86, x86_64).
Familiarity with reverse engineering and/or software exploitation.
Experience in vulnerability analysis of source code or assembly.
Knowledge of exploitation techniques.
Familiarity of exploitation mitigation techniques.
Experience with Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or a similar suite of tools.
Knowledge of industry threat models such as MITRE's ATT&CK or Lockheed Martin's Cyber Kill Chain.
Knowledge of common reconnaissance, exploitation, and post-exploitation frameworks.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals at all OSI layers.
Knowledge of modern cryptography theory, algorithms, and implementations.
