The Global Supply Chain Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) organization is a network-focused function which provides strategic direction and technical and operational support to ensure that GSK Global Supply Chain network, site goals and objectives are achieved, with determined strategy executed. MSAT is the keeper of the body of manufacturing process knowledge, creates the instruction set and ensures manufacturing operations stay aligned with the registered process, with the primary objective being to ensure manufacturing processes are in control, compliant, performant & cost-efficient and remain state of the art. MSAT's primary functions are to lead technology transfers, implement control strategies, provide technical process support across the product lifecycle, industrialising new products and new modalities into commercial manufacture and driving any product-related programs within the GSK PCS perimeter. In this role you will Accountable for biologics MTTs - ensuring effective and efficient processes and agile capabilities are in place to support the advancement of key technology platforms, leading MTTs and determining the right ones to have in place. Single point of accountability across MSAT for biologics technology platforms. Lead the development and industrialisation of biologics technology platforms whether new or adaptation of existing technologies, working across the enterprise to meet the needs of the evolving new product portfolio and to achieve lifecycle improvement plans. Drive the use of modelling and digital solutions as an integrated part of biologics platform technologies. Define the standard expected and the necessary steps towards realisation across the network for platform technologies that are in place and define strategy for new. Manage and lead a team of biologics SMEs ensuring strategy for capability build across the manufacturing sites is defined and execution plan in place. Support the biologics network by working closely with Site MSAT teams and external partners on the resolution of issues pertaining to biologics technology platforms / dose form unit operations. Manage and lead network projects pertaining to the biologics portfolio on an as needs basis in support of the wider GSK business needs. Establish and lead a defined performance management structure to drive improvement in areas such as product robustness, performance and subject matter expertise capability build within the MSAT biologics team & network. Maintains an active network with partners across other business areas such as R&D, Strategy and Engineering. Be conversant with statutory obligations, and GSK procedures for all regulatory requirements in discipline area; ensure GSK corporate governance is upheld. Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BSc, MSc or PhD in a related scientific discipline such as chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmacy, or pharmaceutical engineering - preferably Chartered / Professional Qualification. Ph.D. 15+ years' experience or MS 18+ years' or BS 20+ years' in a Scientific, Biochemistry, chemical or pharmaceutical engineering, or related field and 7-10+ years of experience in leading technical teams across multiple geographical areas. In depth knowledge of biologics manufacturing platforms and technology evolutions. Deep working knowledge of scale-up, technical transfer and process change management / improvement, with knowledge in current Good Manufacturing Practices and US/EU/ROW regulations. Working knowledge and experience in the application of digital solutions across biologics unit operations / technology. Extensive experience in structured technical troubleshooting, RCA and CAPA effectiveness. Extensive experience and in-depth scientific/technical knowledge of pharmaceutical products whether in process development, product development, scale-up, or operations. Consistently acting and leading with personal accountability for the quality and compliance of the MSAT team and beyond. Excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to set ambitious goals and successfully drive results, define priorities, manage and influence individual and team performance, and demonstrated ability to organize people and activities to achieve goals. Ability to perform within a dynamic and stressful environment and to be able to remain calm under pressure and during conflict. Background and experience in leading platform / technology / manufacturing teams - leading and managing groups with specialist expertise. Ability to maintain attention and concentration. Ability to analyse problems, practices or procedures in order to define the problem or objective, identify relevant concerns or factors, identify patterns, tendencies and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternatives and their implications. Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with customers in other functions and beyond, senior management and co-workers. Ability to evaluate and acquire knowledge related to new technologies, and to share and apply knowledge in support of technical challenges. Ability to effectively present information and ideas formally and informally, verbally and in writing to others in a manner that facilitates understanding. Ability to concisely communicate status, needs, forecasts, risks and timelines effectively. Ability to display a clear willingness to listen to others and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and works collaboratively in an effective manner to achieve objectives. Ability to find creative solutions to issues and obstacles. Ability to closely collaborate and build cross-functional relationships. The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $222,530 to $301,070 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
