What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Professional 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Computing Systems Professional 1 ($69,500 - $110,300)
As a Computing Systems Professional 1, you will work on a team supporting customers and their systems, including but not limited to: Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows/Linux operating systems and/or virtual environments and related hardware. Resolving customer support issues and fulfilling requests using tools such as SSH, RDP, PING, and Tracert. Documenting processes and procedures. Troubleshooting updates, hardware, and software issues. Computing Systems Professional 2 ($83,900 - $136,600)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will:
Support LINUX/UNIX servers and desktop systems. Implement and manage Linux solutions to support customer workstation requirements. Automate tasks using programming and scripting. Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. Mentor and train fellow team members. What You Need

Basic knowledge of Server Administration and desktop support. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with workstations and servers. Basic knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client server principles. Effective written and verbal communication skills. In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requ i res:
Wide-ranging experience administering Windows and RHEL Linux/UNIX servers and desktop systems. Knowledge and experience with system configuration management methodologies (such as ActiveDirectory, Ansible, or Puppet), including scripting tools (such as BASH or Python). Knowledge of ticket tracking systems, such as ServiceNow or JIRA. Education/Experience at lower level
: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Education/Experience at higher level
: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Basic understanding of automation scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar) to streamline system setup and maintenance tasks. Basic knowledge in configuring and setting up Linux computing servers, including installation and initial configuration. Familiarity with NIST guidelines and standards. Experience with VMware, vSphere, VDI, and/or vCenter. Active DOE Q-clearance. Essential Job Functions
