The RN assists in responsibility for total resident care for the assigned wing or wings of residents following established facility policy and procedures, federal and state regulations, and nursing standards of practice.
Duties:
Major job functions include performing nursing tasks to assure resident needs are met. This includes: skin assessments, wound treatments, wound prevention, assessing all new admissions on arrival to facility. assess and evaluate resident needs, condition and care; administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician; orders and receives medications from the pharmacy; evaluates for side effects of medications and reports to appropriate personnel; admits and discharges residents; oversees CNA staff; ensures wound care policy and procedures are followed; completes charting as required; ensures resident care plans are followed; conducts assessments of residents with condition changes and reports to charge nurse/supervisor. In addition, the Wound Care Nurse will transcribe and execute physician orders; completes documentation as required; gives report to nursing staff; follows and upholds Resident Bill of Rights and facility policies and procedures; maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA requirements; assists with orientation of new staff; etc. Provides excellent customer service and communication to all residents/families/visitors/MD's/ coworkers, etc.
Qualifications:
This position requires RN licensure with the GA Board of Nursing.
Must have current CPR certification with American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Wound care certified and 1 year experience with wound care/treatments is required.
Preference is given to applicants with previous experience in medical, surgical or geriatric
nursing.
Must have a desire to work with the elderly.
Must maintain confidentiality to ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
