Position Summary Job Title: Clinical Perfusionist Dept: APH Perfusionist Status: Pool Shift: Varies Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking for a Clinical Perfusionist. The Clinical Perfusionist will work under the supervision of a physician member of the medical staff, the Clinical Perfusionist will operate the heart-lung machine in order to maintain the circulation and other organ functions perioperatively for the supervising medical staff member's patients that require cardiopulmonary bypass during congenital cardiac surgical procedures. ECMO responsibility at multiple hospital and multiple units. Adheres to applicable OH policies and procedures and to OH value statements and commitment to excellence standards. Sets up and operates the heart-lung machine for cardiac surgical procedures that require cardiopulmonary bypass according to protocols prescribed by the supervising physician member of the medical staff. Reviews medical records of patients of the supervising medical staff member. Notifies supervising medical staff member about unusual or unexpected events or problems related to above procedures. Maintains appropriate records related to the above procedures. Transcribes verbal orders to be countersigned immediately by supervising staff member. Maintains the perfusion/surgical database. Adheres to Infection Control procedures. Cleans and maintains equipment as required. Other related duties include the safe performance/management of the following: - Extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support - Stand By on all closed heart procedures and for the catheterization lab as needed. - Counterpulsation - Circulatory support/ ventricular assistance - CPS/ECMO - Blood conservation techniques/ autotransfusion - Myocardial preservation - Anticoagulation and hematologic monitoring/analysis - Physiological monitoring/ analysis - Blood gas and blood chemistry monitoring/ analysis - Induction of hypothermia/ hypothermia with reversal - Hemodilution - Hemofiltration - Administration of medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit - Documentation associated with described duties Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor degree in a science or health field. Successful completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion technology program required. Licensure/Certification Maintains current cardiovascular perfusion certification (CCP) with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Experience One (1) year related minimum experience in Neonate, Adults, ECMO and previous pediatric OR experience preferred.

Education/Training Bachelor degree in a science or health field. Successful completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion technology program required. Licensure/Certification Maintains current cardiovascular perfusion certification (CCP) with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
