We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Commercial Construction Superintendent
to oversee and manage all aspects of commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial building processes, project management, ground up work, and a strong ability to lead construction teams. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Description
Project Leadership & Supervision Lead and manage on-site construction activities for commercial projects, ensuring all work is performed according to design, schedule, and budget. Supervise and coordinate workforces, subcontractors, and vendors. Maintain a hands-on approach to project management, overseeing daily operations, scheduling, and task delegation. Conduct daily site walks to assess work progress, safety, quality, and compliance with plans.
Quality Control & Safety Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and other regulatory requirements. Implement and enforce the company's safety program to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment. Inspect work at various stages of completion to guarantee high-quality standards and resolve issues quickly.
Scheduling & Coordination Develop and manage detailed project schedules, including the procurement of materials and equipment. Coordinate all activities related to scheduling, construction phases, and the timely delivery of materials. Adjust schedules as necessary based on delays or issues, and proactively communicate with stakeholders.
Budget & Cost Management Monitor project costs, ensuring adherence to the approved budget. Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices. Manage and resolve change orders, and ensure proper documentation is in place for cost control.
Client & Stakeholder Communication Serve as the main point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, including progress reports, delays, and potential issues. Foster positive relationships with clients and ensure their expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all on-site activities, including daily logs, site inspections, meeting minutes, and reports. Ensure proper documentation for inspections, permits, and certifications.
Problem Solving & Decision Making Proactively identify potential issues or obstacles and develop solutions to keep the project on track. Make decisions quickly and effectively to address on-site challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to the schedule.
Profile
ducation : Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR, LEED) are a plus.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role. Proven track record of managing large-scale commercial projects from start to finish. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety standards.
Skills : Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of organization, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities. Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Physical Requirements : Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments. Must be able to walk, climb, and navigate construction sites safely.
