Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Legal Secretary
with a background in
defense-side litigation
to support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation through trial. This role requires someone who can step in and efficiently manage case deadlines, court filings, and trial preparation with minimal onboarding and supervision.
Job Duties
Job duties will include, but not be limited to: Providing litigation support, managing discovery, organizing case materials, and assisting attorneys throughout all stages of litigation. Independently tracking and managing litigation cases, discovery, and pre-trial deadlines, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. Drafting and preparing various legal documents, including pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, and deposition notices. Formatting documents in Microsoft Word, creating tables of contents and authorities, proofreading, and preparing for final submission. Maintaining an accurate, up-to-date litigation calendar, sending timely reminders and ensuring all deadlines are met. Monitor and follow up on multiple, competing deadlines. Filing documents electronically in state and federal courts, adhering strictly to jurisdiction-specific requirements. Coordinating trial preparation, including managing exhibits and witness logistics. Systematically organizing case files and managing emails in the document management system. Qualifications
:
5 -7+ years of significant defense side litigation experience. Employment or public entity preferred. Extensive knowledge of litigation and procedural rules, including deadlines, filing, requirements and deadlines. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat and legal case management software - preferably Clio. High level of organization and attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines. High quality work product Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and court personnel. Ability to complete multiple assignments and meet deadlines accurately and efficiently.
Compensation and benefits:
Salary is based on experience from $60,000 - $85,000 per year Comprehensive benefits are available 1 day work from home available after 90dys
