JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of a research lab focusing on forest tree health and genetic improvement, especially that of the American chestnut species. In addition to the management of daily operations, the administrator will perform duties relating to the educational events, research outreach and communications, social media, and accounting.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Check and respond to email and phone calls

Maintain office supplies

Increase and manage volunteer pool for field work and educational events

Plan two educational meetings each year: securing a venue and catering, as well as scheduling presentations.

Manage database of parties interested in volunteers and supporting research and maintain regular communications and relationships with them.

Maintain website and associated events calendar

Create and send a monthly e-Newsletter and manage social media presence (Facebook and Instagram)

Create and mail a twice annual print newsletter.

Assist with accounting using Quickbooks and with PSUs budgeting system.

QUALIFICATIONS

A working knowledge of computer software packages, databases, and reporting systems, such as Microsoft Publisher, Word, and Excel. Experience with Adobe products such as Acrobat, Microsoft, and Quickbooks is preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants with enthusiasm for and/or background in ecological, environmental and/or forestry sciences and the mission of TACF.

Ability to write clearly, and to communicate and work well with people is required.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
