is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented
Journeyman
LAN/WAN Engineer
to join our team in the Washington, DC. This position supports a 24/7/365 service center. You will have the option of three different shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform as mid-level contributor with knowledge and experience in local and wide area networking, communications, and related software/hardware within a multi-platform operating environment.
Responsible for the integration of a network including assisting in the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the corporate LAN/WAN.
Current on most technological developments and applications, and helps to evaluate vendor products to make recommendations for purchase.
May work with Voice and/or Data.
Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and support firewalls, routers, switches, proxies, VPN, DNS, email, and SD-WAN and cloud routing to include Cisco CSRs;
Optimize network performance to achieve the desired CoS and QoS;
Monitor and trace network traffic across multiple boundaries to resolve faults;
Create and manage designs, test plans, RCAs, and AARs;
Create and maintain secure device configuration baselines;
Support incident response and project implementation with internal and external teams and third-party vendors;
Guide and train junior LAN/WAN/Remote engineers
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
A minimum of two (2) years of related experience
Demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting firewalls, routers, switches, proxies, VPN, DNS, email, and SD-WAN and cloud routing
Demonstrated experience optimizing networks
Demonstrated experience creating designs, test plans, RCAs, and AARs
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient with ServiceNow
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
