Network Engineer

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Engineer, Mid-level to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze Network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission critical systems.
Implement, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain all aspects LAN/WAN/VPN/ networks for high availability of parallel development, testing and production environments.
Review SNMP alerts, use protocol-line analyzers (sniffers) and conduct log forensics to determine root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
Collaborate with Software and Database Developers, Windows and Linux Server Administrators and Security personnel to analyze Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements, troubleshoot anomalies and determine appropriate firewall configuration implementation.
Draft and submit recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings.
Maintain system compliance with DHS\FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives concerning privacy of passenger screening information.
Installs new releases and system upgrades, evaluates, and installs patches, and resolves network related problems.
Perform system backups and recovery.
Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure network integrity.
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Experienced in executing sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Perform a variety of tasks and work under general supervision.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a project leader or manager.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in network troubleshooting and network management tools.
Knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, Switch ports, LAN, WAN, and VPN.
Experience managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting an enterprise network on Cisco hardware.
Minimum 2 years of experience analyzing, implementing, and troubleshooting firewall rules on Cisco devices.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks, to prioritize competing priorities, work under a cross-matrix management structure, required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner, should be a quick learner, must be able to adapt to quickly evolving technology and priority changes and have a desire to work closely with other members of the IT/development team.
Candidate should be a proactive self-starter with exceptional follow up skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Network Automation
Routing experience to include static routes, EIGRP and route redistribution.
Switching experience to include understanding of virtual port-channels (vPC aka MEC), spanning tree, first hop redundancy protocols, and security best practices.
Experience with firewall concepts and configurations to include creating/modifying access control lists, network/port address translation, and virtual private networks.
Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations to include layer4/layer7, SSL offloading, and health monitoring.
Monitoring of all network components via SolarWinds.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 5 or more years related professional experience.
Education can be substituted for 9 years of experience and should have attained associate or professional level certifications from Cisco, Juniper, or other vendors.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.
Must be able to traverse between one work location to another to accomplish work duties.
Must be able to operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
Must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to exchange information accurately.
Must be able to read, review and effectively respond to electronic as well as verbal communications.
This position supports an IT operations environment. Candidates may need to support work on nights and weekends and may be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Currently, the contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer’s site once weekly at a minimum. This is subject to change.
