The Director of Employee & Labor Relations is responsible for developing and managing the company’s employee and labor relations tactics. This individual ensures compliance with labor laws and regulations, fosters a positive workplace culture, and leads efforts to address employee relations concerns. The role is critical in supporting the company’s mission of delivering quality care in long-term skilled nursing facilities by promoting fair and effective labor practices and employee engagement. Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

1. Employee Relations

Oversee the resolution of employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict mediation, and disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Develop and implement employee relations programs and initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. Partner with facility administrators and HR teams to address workplace concerns proactively. Act as a trusted advisor to management on best practices and risk mitigation for employee relations. 2. Labor Relations

Work with the Vice President of Human Resources during collective bargaining negotiations and manage labor contract administration for unionized facilities. Develop and maintain productive relationships with labor unions and other employee advocacy groups. Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and support grievance resolution processes. Provide training and guidance to management on labor relations matters, including union avoidance strategies and regulatory compliance. 3. Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, including, but not limited to, the FLSA, NLRA, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII. Conduct regular audits and assessments of employee and labor relations practices to identify areas of risk and improvement. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and legal counsel on labor and employee relations issues. 4. Leadership and Strategy

Contribute to developing and executing strategic vision for employee and labor relations aligned with the company’s overall goals. Provide HR and management teams with leadership, coaching, and development opportunities. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes impacting employee and labor relations in skilled nursing. Collaborate with HR, legal, and operations teams to drive consistent and equitable application of policies across all facilities. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or JD preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in employee and labor relations, including union and non-union environments. In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations. Proven experience in collective bargaining negotiations and labor contract administration. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to travel to company facilities as needed. Preferred Qualifications
