Senior Data Platform Engineer - Snowflake
to join our Enterprise data team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site or hybrid. As a Senior Data Platform Engineer - Snowflake, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud data platforms to support the organization's data, analytics, and AI platforms. You will play a key role in building scalable and secure environments that enable advanced data processing and analytics operations. You will collaborate with data architects and data engineers to build robust, secure, and high-performance environments while ensuring cost efficiency and reliability aligning with evolving business needs. How will you make an impact: Snowflake Architecture & Design:
Design secure, scalable, and efficient Snowflake solutions to meet business needs, ensuring alignment with data architecture and enterprise standards. Implementation & Integration:
Lead Snowflake platform implementations, including setup, migration, and configuration. Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate Snowflake with data pipelines, ETL/ELT tools, and analytics platforms. Platform Administration:
Manage and maintain the Snowflake environment, including database setup, schema management, and user roles/permissions. Establish a monitoring framework and optimize query performance, workload management, and resource utilization to ensure system availability and reliability. Cost Management:
Implement and monitor cost optimization strategies, ensuring effective usage of Snowflake credits and resources. Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into Snowflake consumption and budget adherence. Security & Compliance:
Configure and enforce security measures, including data masking, encryption, and role-based access control. Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, such as GDPR and CCPA. Documentation & Best Practices:
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational guidelines, and troubleshooting playbooks. Promote Snowflake best practices across teams and provide training as needed. Collaborate closely with data engineers, architects, and business teams to align Snowflake solutions with business objectives. Act as a subject matter expert for Snowflake, advising on platform capabilities and future enhancements. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data platform administration and architecture, with at least 3 years focused on Snowflake. Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, administration, and advanced features. Proficiency in SQL, query performance tuning, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience with Snowflake security, access controls, identity management, data encryption, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA). Familiarity with tools like Matillion, dbt, PowerBI, or Tableau for integration and analytics. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications:
Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Experience in multi-cloud environments and hybrid data architectures. Proficiency in automation scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages. Base Pay Range:
