POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Content Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive content vision that drives brand growth, engages target audiences, and achieves business goals. This individual combines strategic expertise with exceptional writing skills to craft compelling narratives and oversee a high-performing team of content creators. They are a key player in ensuring cohesive messaging across all channels, optimizing content performance through data-driven insights, and acting as a steward of the brand’s voice. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on contributor who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
STARTING SALARY:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field. Experience:
At least 8 years of professional experience in content strategy, marketing, or editorial roles. Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management position. Proven track record of developing and executing successful content strategies. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong portfolio of work. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency in content distribution across digital platforms (social media, websites, email campaigns, etc.).

Content Marketing Expertise:
Deep knowledge of SEO principles and keyword optimization. Proficiency in content performance tracking tools like Google Analytics and HubSpot. Experience in content distribution and amplification strategies.
Leadership and Team Management:
Proven ability to lead and mentor creative teams, including writers, editors, and strategists. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Project Management:
Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, or Monday.com).
Analytical and Data-Driven Decision Making:
Experience interpreting content analytics to refine strategies. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate data insights into actionable plans.
Adaptability and Creativity:
Ability to adapt to new trends, technologies, and audience behaviors. Innovative thinking to craft fresh and engaging content ideas.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and content management tools. Familiarity with social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Content Strategy Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with business objectives, brand voice, and target audience needs. Drive innovation in content formats, storytelling techniques, and distribution channels to maximize engagement and ROI.
Content Creation and Writing:
Produce high-quality, compelling content, including thought leadership articles, editorials, executive communications, and key brand messages. Serve as the final editorial gatekeeper, ensuring all content meets the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead and mentor a team of content creators, strategists, and writers to deliver impactful content initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and product, to create cohesive messaging across platforms.
Performance Measurement and Optimization:
Monitor content performance using analytics tools, identifying insights and opportunities for improvement. Leverage data to refine strategies, ensuring content aligns with audience preferences and market trends.
Brand Voice and Messaging:
Act as a steward of the brand voice, ensuring consistency across all communications. Develop messaging frameworks for campaigns, products, and other initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner with executive leadership to craft compelling narratives for internal and external audiences. Act as a spokesperson for the content strategy vision, presenting to stakeholders and advocating for its value.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Direct Reports: None. Indirect Reports: None. CONTACT RESPONSIBILITY: Internal: Interacts with supervisor to receive general direction and instructions and/or review of work results. This position will work closely with colleagues in multiple departments. External: Interacts with outside vendors, such as advertising, digital and PR agencies, printers, graphic designers, and copywriters to ensure the successful and accurate execution of promotional strategies. PRIMARY WORK LOCATION, HOURS & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Office Location: Remote. Work Hours: Generally standard office hours. Travel: May require occasional travel to Alliant International University campus locations.
