Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range
($200,000 - $225,000)
for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Description This role will be based in our Boston, MA headquarters office working a hybrid schedule. About the Team The Corporate Strategy & Research (CS&R) group is an award-winning ~40-person enterprise strategy and internal strategy consulting team within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company with 45,000 employees in 900 offices worldwide. Job Summary & Responsibilities Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Strategy Officer, you will have the unique opportunity to drive the development of Liberty Mutual’s enterprise strategy while partnering closely with the LMG Executive Leadership Team and other senior stakeholders across the organization. You will drive the strategy-setting process for the enterprise including framing key strategic choices and trade-offs (where to play and how to win) to facilitate discussions amongst the executive leadership team in making informed decisions on how best to move the organization forward. You will play a key role in developing a Liberty-perspective on key industry trends / disruptors and competitive intelligence, coordinating the strategic planning process across the company, liaising with strategy counterparts across BUs and Corporate Functions to frame and provide recommendations on key strategic choices, and developing enterprise scorecard including tools and mechanisms to drive accountability. You will work closely with the Enterprise Strategy Officer who will support your development as you work toward your career aspirations. In turn, you will have the opportunity to direct and guide the day-to-day work of less experienced members while providing coaching to support their career development. Your responsibilities will include: Serve as right hand to VP, Enterprise Strategy Officer to develop, maintain, and refresh the enterprise strategy and strategic priorities in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team. Directly contribute to the strategic development, prioritization, and execution of high-impact, high-visibility initiatives; bring a cohesive “One Liberty” perspective and strategic thinking to maintain the vision and goals of the Executive Leadership Team. Contribute to and help drive the enterprise strategic planning process. Lead strategic assessments and craft storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and strategic recommendations to executive level audiences to move the organization to action. Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, competitive landscape, and potential disruptions to develop a Liberty-perspective, identify strategic implications for the company, and drive the organization toward a cohesive response. Liaise with strategy counterparts across BUs and Corporate Functions to frame and provide recommendations on key strategic choices and accelerate cross-BU opportunities. Provide direction and counsel on day-to-day work of less experienced team members including general strategy consultants on a project by project, situational basis; coach and support the professional development of a high-performing team. Cultivate strong, positive, and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the company while providing a challenging function to the organization. Your compensation will include: Base salary plus an annual short term incentive bonus target: 22.5% Qualifications MBA with a demonstrated record of success or equivalent business and analytical background. CFA highly preferred or equivalent demonstrated financial experience or acumen. 7+ years of experience with a combination of top-tier strategy consulting, enterprise-level strategy, and/or corporate development experience; top-tier strategy consulting background is required. 2-3 years of experience managing project teams is highly preferred. Advanced knowledge and/or direct experience in several of the following aspects of the property/casualty insurance industry: product development, capital management, pricing, distribution, marketing, finance, innovation, insurance operations, or technology. Ability to collaborate with senior executives and their teams to create strategies that enable delivery of business results. Strong critical thinking skills with ability to elevate thinking and apply judgment during analysis about how components fit together and with bigger picture. Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and as a member of a team, and coach junior team members. Ability to leverage experience and analysis to gain support and influence others. Strong quantitative, analytical, storytelling, and written / oral communication skills. Strong, confident, and credible executive presence. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Adept at working in a fast-paced environment with incomplete information; able to manage multiple projects / stakeholders concurrently and balance strategic / tactical priorities to advance initiatives based on known information, judgment, and orchestration of diverse stakeholders. The role is located in Boston, MA only, working in a hybrid model (weekly blend of 3-4 days in-office and 1-2 days working from home).
