Business Development Leader - Colorado

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for driving revenue growth by securing new business and expanding existing client relationships within the AEC industry. The Business Development Leader will leverage their established network and proven sales expertise to identify, pursue, and convert leads into profitable projects. This position requires a highly motivated independent, and result-driven individual with strong industry knowledge, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a strategic mindset. The ideal candidate would be based in the northern metropolitan Denver area and must be willing and able to travel to Fort Collins and/or Greeley as needed to support business operations.

- Works in partnership and support of the Colorado Region leadership team and executes on the strategic business development plan to meet revenue targets.
- Proactively identify and pursue business opportunities across Colorado to expand the firm's market share. Works highly independently with support from technical staff as needed.
- Leverage existing industry network and proactively build new relationships to generate leads and secure projects.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to expand service offerings within existing accounts. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential projects and clients.
- Support technical teams to develop project proposals, presentations, and scopes of work that meet client requirements and budget constraints.
- Develop a deep understanding of the company's services, value proposition, and competitive advantages.
- Qualify leads, assess client needs, and propose tailored solutions.
- Utilize CRM software (Deltek CRM) to track opportunities, maintain accurate records, and provide accurate forecasting to leadership.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with existing clients to foster loyalty and drive repeat business.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and technical teams, ensuring project delivery meets client expectations and fosters strong, ongoing relationships.
- Professionally represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build connections and enhance visibility.
- Partner with Marketing to gather market insights, identify trends, and assess competitive threats to inform strategic planning.
- Contribute to developing and implementing regional/firm-wide strategic business plans.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to inform business development strategies.
- Mentor and coach technical staff on business development best practices and client relationship management skills.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge-sharing, professional growth, and the success of the broader team.
- Build trust and establish relationships with key internal stakeholders and owners. Treat internal stakeholders and owners as your client.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 - 10 years of proven success in business development and sales within the AEC industry preferred.
- Established network of contacts within the AEC industry in the Colorado front range region.
- Strong understanding of the AEC industry, including project delivery methods, procurement processes, and key players.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and committed to exceeding business development goals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative, and CRM software (Deltek CRM).
- Familiarity with AEC Marketing principles and best practices.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel 5 - 15% based on business need.
- Required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Requires a regular and normal range of hearing.
- Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching during office work and prolonged standing with a significant amount of time spent bending, squatting, and reaching when working in the field.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment when working in an office. However, when working in the field, noise levels vary from ambient outdoor levels to those requiring ear protection.
