About the Role:

We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack to join our dynamic team. We're on a mission to transform healthcare by expanding Hinge Health's platform to seamlessly integrate with the broader healthcare ecosystem. As a Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack, you'll play a pivotal role in building scalable, high-impact solutions that will deliver life-changing treatments to millions.

Fullstack engineers contribute to their team's success by building and extending secure, scalable services and exposing clear, well-tested APIs that power beautiful client applications. They also add seamless and practical features to Hinge Health applications. Fullstack engineers design and implement end-to-end solutions, profile their systems to stay out ahead of scaling bottlenecks, and help maintain a high bar with thoughtful and constructive code reviews. Staff software engineers collaborate with teammates to tackle the hardest features in a sprint and deliver foundational architecture improvements in small, safe patches. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative, cross functional environment.

Our production systems rely on React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Nestjs, GraphQL, Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA

What You'll Accomplish Design, build, and maintain scalable systems leveraging Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Postgres,DynamoDB and AWS. Lead and participate in architectural discussions, proposing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. Implement and optimize event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka. Develop backend services and APIs using Python and TypeScript, ensuring clean, maintainable, and scalable code. Manage and scale databases to support high-availability and large-scale data applications. Work with cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance optimizations. Ensure observability of systems using tools like Datadog, Sumo Logic, and Sentry for real-time monitoring, log management, and error tracking. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, staff and senior staff engineer and engineering leaders Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Advocate for best practices in software development, architecture, security, and system observability. Hinge Health Hybrid Model

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of building scalable microservices 4+ years of experience building event driven systems 4+ years of experience of AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) and cloud architecture Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, or Angular). Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree 5+ years of experience in TypeScript, Nestjs, GraphQL, Node.js, relational and non relational databases, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Redis Experience with mobile development (React Native) Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead large-scale projects from concept to delivery. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and mentor others. Strong understanding of system design principles, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with observability tools such as Datadog (performance monitoring), Sumo Logic (log management), and Sentry (error tracking) Brings a proactive, can-do attitude to tackle challenges and drive projects forward with enthusiasm and determination. This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $176,000 - $264,000.
