POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certification Specialist is responsible for processing all applicant files for move-in by conducting household interviews, ensuring all information is correctly listed and documented on the application, completing background screenings, obtaining third-party verifications, tracking responses, submitting for approval, and preparing files appropriately for lease and certification signing.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certification Specialist is responsible for processing all applicant files for move-in by conducting household interviews, ensuring all information is correctly listed and documented on the application, completing background screenings, obtaining third-party verifications, tracking responses, submitting for approval, and preparing files appropriately for lease and certification signing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for processing all recertifications and interims by conducting household interviews, ensuring all information is correctly listed and documented on recertification, obtaining 3rd party verifications, tracking responses, submitting for approval, and preparing files appropriately for lease and certification signing
- Process the recertification process 120 days before the recertification date by sending annual recertification notices to tenants and follow up as required until recertification is completed.
- Responsible for processing applications promptly and, if applicable, in application order
- Ensure that all recertifications are completed at least 30 days before lease expiration
- Ensure all files, both digital and paper, are always properly maintained
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date status of rental units, including availability of units, waiting and transfer lists, if applicable
- Ensure all required information is uploaded/entered in Yardi and Elite, HANO's public housing monitoring system
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
- Ability to operate on a deadline-driven schedule and prioritize various tasks
- Ability to work in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written skills are required
- Must comply with regulatory agreements and possess critical thinking, evaluation, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of LIHTC, HOME, and HUD programs is a plus. Compliance certification such as COS or HCCP is preferred
- Experience in banking or financial services a plus
