Job DescriptionJob Description

Assemble, modify, test, and adjust custom mechanical assemblies and equipment by applying knowledge of various assembly techniques, following shop drawings, and adhering to instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lifting and Moving: Occasionally lift items up to 75 pounds.
  • Blueprint and Diagram Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical and wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Assembly and Fastening: Use hand and power tools to fasten, align, and install parts, components, and relays. Route and terminate cables as needed.
  • Component Attachment: Secure hardware using nuts, bolts, rivets, screws, or other methods. Perform tasks like cutting, bending, grinding, de-burring, and mounting bus bars.
  • Quality Control: Inspect installed components to ensure they are free from damage or defects. Report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Tool Operation: Proficiently operate basic hand tools, saws, punches, grinders, and drills.
  • Maintenance and Clean-up: Regularly clean equipment by wiping, vacuuming, or blowing out metal debris. Ensure workspace is organized and tools are properly stored at the end of each shift.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • Physical capability to lift, bend, and climb as part of routine tasks.
  • Previous experience in mechanical fabrication is .

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Adaptability: Ability to perform a range of assembly tasks that may frequently change.
  • Planning and Assembly: Proficient in planning, laying out, assembling, and installing components and assemblies within steel frameworks according to shop drawings.
  • Blueprint Reading: Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, control drawings, and product specifications to determine the assembly sequence, basic wiring, and installation methods.
  • Component Installation: Install components, including switches, relays, windows, door stays, and other hardware, ensuring proper clearances and sequences.
  • Safety and Quality Compliance: Adhere to NEPSI quality and Health & Safety Programs, ensuring the correct installation of conductors, wires, and connectors and performing process audits as required.
