Description Amazon Prime Air is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist. This role is part of our US Regulatory Affairs and Strategy team. Prime Air is leading the industry in expanding drone delivery at scale. One of the challenges in this mission is to integrate in operations with other aircraft and other drone operators. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to enable Prime Air to further integrate into airspace of various levels of complexity and different levels of classification. This role will will integrate activities across internal teams such as engineering and operations, and serve as leader Prime Air’s on the topic with FAA and other industry stakeholders. Key job responsibilities • Develop and implement strategies for integrating Prime Air operations into various airspace classifications, with a focus on complex environments such as Class B and C airspace. • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Flight Operations, Legal, Public Policy, Public Relations) to align on strategy, messaging, and regulatory requirements for drone operations. • Engage with industry stakeholders to influence and shape industry standards guiding future policies on airspace integration between drones and traditional aviation. • Serve as the primary liaison between Prime Air and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on matters related to airspace integration and regulatory compliance. • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments in the drone industry, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership on potential impacts to Prime Air operations. • Develop and maintain relationships with key regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other relevant organizations to stay informed of emerging trends and regulations. • Participate in industry working groups and committees to represent Amazon Prime Air's interests in shaping future drone regulations and standards Basic Qualifications • Bachelor, or Master, degree from an accredited course of study, in aviation/aerospace, aerospace engineering, or equivalent industry experience • 7+ years of working with aviation regulations, regulatory permissions, and/or aviation stakeholder outreach • Familiarity and experience with FAA regulations and associated policies pertaining to air traffic management/separation of aircraft and how FAA air traffic systems work, both technically and procedurally • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent interpersonal, communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), and presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of working with aviation regulations, regulatory permissions, and/or in a role that requires extensive aviation stakeholder interaction and coordination Experience as an air traffic controller Experience making policy related to air traffic rules, procedures, and permissions Experience with FAA regulations and associated policies related innovative to drones Experience writing requirements to technical organizations Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
